Sheepishly Cute

Happy Friday! Hopefully you are all looking forward to another long weekend! I most certainly am looking forward to New Year's Day. My husband and I own our own business and NY Day is one of three days of the year we are closed. Stress free day for us! Yay! Anyway... I am linking up with Lauren for High Five for Friday!

1. First great thing about this week? This outfit...

I personally love this trend. I was so excited when I saw this at Old Navy! I even picked up with sweater with the fox AND the owl. I've already worn them, just haven't documented...I'll get on that!

2. I am so getting a tripod this weekend for my camera. Can't wait. My husband refused to take my pics outside because he said it was too cold. Reason # 3456548 I need a tripod!

3. I have a wedding this weekend- check out what I will be wearing here

4. Don't you just love when you randomly throw an outfit together and it just works? Thats what happened with this outfit. To me, pairing black, gray and white together is classic and I think somewhat refreshing for a wardrobe. Sometimes I get so caught up in mixing so many patterns and colors its good to start at zero with just a black canvas. I like to think it recharges my brain!! Haha

5. Its the weekend! Can't wait to get all dolled up!

Blazer: Target (old) (similar)
Sweater: Old Navy (sold out in stores and online)
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Gap (similar)
Bracelet: Tiffanys (no longer available), Stella and Dot
And there you have it! I just loved the pairing of this outfit- like I said...its refreshing to revert to basic black and white. An easy and stylish way to recharge your fashion mind, don't you think?
Have a great weekend!

These are a few of my favorite things...

Hey ladies (and gents?)! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and were able to spend some quality time with loved ones and got everything you asked for (all the while not forgetting the TRUE meaning of Christmas)!

This year's Christmas was a low key one for me and that was perfectly fine with me! My husband and I decided not to exchange this year (makes me feel old). Also, his parents are getting us our landscaping (we will no longer be that house in the neighborhood with no landscaping) so we both had minimal gifts to open. To be honest, it was kind of refreshing!

The few gifts I did get to open though, were great (I did have a hand in picking them out for my mom and dad to give me!).

I am super excited to style these shoes. And they are from Old Navy! Love a good deal. I had been looking for leopard booties that weren't over the top or trashy looking-stumbled on these and fell in love!
I am also the person that when I find something I love I buy it in more than one color, which is where the gray ones come in. Why mess with a good thing?
What are some of your fave Christmas gifts you got? Can't wait to see what new finds the blogging world will be introducing over the next week or two! I think I love seeing what others get just as much as I like getting new things!

Keepin' It Real About My Skincare Routine

I'm just going to be honest- I don't wash my face every night before I go to bed. Go ahead....judge me.

But honestly, after running a business and taking care of two children (along with being the best wife in the world, obvi), the last thing I want to do is wash my face at night. I know, I know, it only takes an extra couple of minutes, but seriously....I'd rather spend those extra couple of minutes in bed. Sleep is a hot commodity these days, folks. I take as much as I can get.

Don't cringe too much though, because although I don't always wash my face at night, I do have these that I swear by...

These are equivalent to Neutrogena Makeup Remover Towelettes. They work great too, but Up & Up is obviously a money saver.
In the morning though, this is my skincare routine. I usually don't deviate from it at all:
I don't exfoliate every day- I do it every other day or every two days, simply because exfoliating every day can be harsh for your skin, so be careful (especially if you have sensitive skin). Whats great about Bare Minerals is that beacuse it is a water-activated powder cleanser it isn't super abrasive on your skin.
Next I use this...
Two pumps is all I use for this. It lasts a long time because you don't need a lot. It doesn't have a scent to it, which I love. I personally can't stand using a ton of products that are overly scented. Simple, clean, pure. Its also gentle enough to remove makeup too so I don't hesitate to rub it directly on my eyelids and around my eyes.
Then I follow up with this...
Just like the cleanser, this doesn't have a scent to it and it absorbs quickly. Two pumps is all I use for this so it lasts quite some time, just like the cleanser!
Finally, I use this primer before I apply my makeup. I have confessed my love for primer before. Its a must.
So there you have it! Although I don't do this whole routing day and night, I do it every morning. Bare Minerals can be more expensive than your basic drug store brands but honestly, its good quality and it lasts. Plus, its not harsh on your skin so its good for all types of skin!

Chevron and Leopard Mixer

I've worn this outfit before, just haven't documented it (except on Instagram...follow me: mommyinheels). I love when I find an outfit that I love. It quickly turns into one of my go-to's.

What I especially love about it is the mix of chevron and leopard. Who would have thought it would go so well together?

Day of Silence

My {almost} New Years Look

My husband and I have a wedding December 29th which we are so excited for. Since its so close to New Years Eve I immediately think glitter, sequins, sparkle. I think mainly because this wedding, this night out will be our "New Years Eve." End result? Go all out, of course!

I was at Kohls the other day and found this gorgeous LC Lauren Conrad dress. I knew it was perfect for several reason. Glitter, sequins, sparkle! And it was long sleeved....being that I am not exactly even close to where I want to be post baby, I knew I wanted my arms covered. Jackpot!

How gorgeous is it? I am thinking of pairing it with with black tights and black pumps, similar to this...

Available at Kohl's

So what will YOU be wearing NYE? A little sparkle and sequins?

What I Wore: I (heart) You!

I have professed my love for scarves before. They are the perfect accessory. Its a really inexpensive way to add to your wardrobe and can change the whole look of an outfit.

Recently I found the cutest scarf at Old Navy. It made me instantly happy! I thought the military jacket, gray shirt and nude flats would be a nice, subtle compliment to the busy-ness of the scarf! Believe me- its a bright one! PS- if you don't have nude flats, I highly recommend you get a pair. I wear mine quite a bit. They go with so much...

Gingham Style

I was so not sure what to wear this weekend. I usually try and plan my outfits ahead of time. So much so that I have a note in my phone with a list of outfits. Every time I think of an outfit or inspiration strikes I add it to the list otherwise I will forget it. Go ahead and laugh, but its awesome to have when you are in a pinch.

For some reason though I was not feeling any of the outfits that I had pre planned. So the result, or that plus needing to leave 5 minutes ago resulted in throwing an outfit together. One that I actually liked! Don't you love when that happens?? I know I do! And can I say that I love the pairing of this blue gingham with the mustard yellow...I have said before how much I love the color!

Oh hey big gap in the shirt...didn't see that until after I saw the pics and was definitely too lazy to take another....so enjoy :)

Bowl Cuts, Chevron and Mary Poppins

Haven't done this for quite some time so I thought I would link up with Lauren today!! High Five for Friday!

1. Had a great time at a dear friend's bachelorette party. Had the best time with my college girls. We've been friends for 12 years and we still have just as much fun now as we did when we were younger!
2. Yes. This is me. Yes. That is a bowl cut. And yes, those are little people holding hands painted with stencils on my dress. Stenciled. And yes, those are crushed mini wheats glued to paper. I made that ornament when I was four and now hang it on my Christmas tree every year. And every year I laugh hysterically when I look at it. It made its yearly appearance this week. My Mom tries to tell me my hair cute was the Dorothy Hamill hair cut, but lets be honest...I am a child of the 80s...it was a straight up bowl cut.

3. This would be my 4 year old, Ella. She is exactly like me. Which scares me for when she is a teenager. After she got dressed for school one day this week she said "Mommy, take my picture. Make sure you get my shoes in it." What a diva :)
4. Wore this cute outfit the other day. Loved pairing chevron and leopard together. The only pic I was able to capture of it!
5. My daughter and I are headed to see Mary Poppins this weekend. I am so excited that she is starting to develop an interest and appreciation for the arts just like me. Hopefully it continues and can be something we share together :)
Have a great weekend!

What I Wore: Stripes and Polka Dots

I've said many times before how awesome I think blazers are....they are no fail. They are so versatile and definitely must in everyone's wardrobe. I love pairing them with jeans, skirts, dresses. Everything!

Check out my latest blazer I added to my closet. I am so excited to wear it so many different ways!

One of my fave things to pair with a blazer to dress it down is a basic t shirt. Another thing I love about this look is the mix of stripes and polka dots. Don't be afraid to mix patterns. Perfect matches can be an unlikely combo! (does that even make sense? it does in my mind but now that I type it I don't think it does...hahahaha!) And let me just say I had a pretty cute top knot earlier in the day. Amazing what running your business, playing with your four yr old and not looking in a mirror can do to your hair! Yikes!

Oxblood and Leather...

....kinda sounds like a morbid combo, doesn't it? Anyway, here is a simply combo. To me, my leather jacket is fall and winters denim jacket. I wear it a lot. It goes with everything!!

I don't know what the deal was with the camera, but these pics kind of suck...anyway...here are the detail!

Unexpected Finds

So I was home over Thanksgiving and was able to be at my cousin's baby shower. I am pretty close with them. We share many things with each other, fashion tips and finds being one of them.

My aunt (their mom) is pretty fashion forward too. I find myself always asking here where she found this or that. So I walked into the shower and she had on this fab shirt. It was a gorgeous winter white. The collar and sleeves were black leather. Immediately I asked her where she found it. I about died when she said it was Worthington, from JC Penneys. Worthington? Penney's? I hadn't shopped there in years. I couldn't tell you the last time I even set foot in one.

But my aunt and cousins assured me they had some really great finds. So off to Penney's I went a few days later. I was shocked. They have really stepped it up. I mean, I had to put some things back on the rack because I had so many things in my 'to buy' pile. Thats how awesome it was!

Here are some of my fab finds. Can't wait!

Its $12. Seriously. $12!!
Sold Out online, but still available in stores.
$10. Yes...$10!!
What a great shirt and jacket, right? Details here
Here are a few more of my faves...
Aren't these awesome? Head over to JC Penney's website now and check it out. My fave brandes are a.n.a., Nicole by Nicole Miller and MNG by Mango. Oh and also Worthington...yes Worthington! Who would have though?!?!
