High Five 4 Friday!!

This past week was full of high five worthy events and things!! I am so lucky!

1. My girlfriends threw me a surprise baby shower. Needless to say I was surprised! It was amazing!

We have been friends since our freshman year of college! Over ten years :) I love the progression of our pictures over the years!

Another dear friend for over ten years....so lucky!

One of the two hostesses and Godmother of soon-to-be baby!
My diaper bag by Timi and Leslie. So excited to use it!
My Push Present from my husband. He got it for my blogging but I am having trouble getting blogger to work well on it! Instead....we have a blast with Photobooth!! hahahaha!
4. Three weeks until my due date....I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....
Our daughter's first day of Pre-K4 was this week. She was so excited. She told me "I'm Purplicious, Mommy!" Love her :)

Current Crush: Bare Minerals is Da Bomb

Once again linking up for Current Crush!  This week, I am loving some Bare Minerals eye shadow.

I wear Bare Minerals Queen Tiffany just about every day. Its awesome. In fact, so awesome I wrote a post about it that you can read here.

Some days its nice to try something different...enter Bare Minerals Ready 4.0. Sounds intense, right?  I purchased two different shades at Ulta...here they are:

I purchased mine at Ulta, but you can purchase it online here for $30.00. Yes, its thirty bucks, but you are getting four shadows in one palette.  Good deal? Yes.
Hello to you too, beautiful shadows. I don't really use the small brush it comes with, but its nice to have it just in case you take this palette on the go with you!
It even comes with these handy dandy directions. If you are like me, you won't use them and will just put it on however you want to create your own look. BUT-if you aren't quite sure how to wear all four shades together the directions give you two dif options. How awesome!?!?!
So whats the difference between the Ready 4.0 and the loose Bare Mineral shadow? Well funny you should ask....
The pressed powder contains antioxidants, cold-pressed barage oil, caffeine and cucumber. These ingredients supposedly deliver anti-aging benefits (de-puffing).
It looks like a powder, feels like a cream, and is long wearing.
They say it also containts no parabens, binders, fillers or harsh chemicals. What does that mean? No clue. The ony word I understood in that whole thing was chemicals. I am so smart.
Anyway, thats my crush for the week. They are my new fave!

This Fall's Fedora...

...is a wide brimmed, wool hat. I am in love. Bring on fall.

Over the summer, I live in my fedoras. They go with everything and are perfect for days I don't feel like doing my hair, which is like all the time. Throw on a fedora, aviators, and I am good to go!!!

I knew what I was looking for, with this wool hate, but couldn't find one I liked. That is until I went to Old Navy to return something. Of course, I can't just walk right to the registers. In the front of the store.

Not long after I walked in, the chorus started to sing, and there it was....

Old Navy Women's Felt Feather-Trim Hat, on sale for $18
When I tried it on I made sure to eliminate the dents that are in it to make it less cowboy/western and more stylish and chic! I LOVE IT!!!!
The brim is just wide enough to look adorable but not too big to look ridiculous!!!
Bring on the fall weather, sweaters, riding boots and scarves!!!
I am definitely adding this to my Fall Look Book. Speaking of....that post should be done soon! I am sure you are all just freaking out in anticipation...

How to Wear: Military Jacket

Just like I said last week, I would throw together some options/different ways to wear a military style jacket. Here is what I came up with!! Hopefully you can find something the fits your own personal life and style!

I absolutely love how casual chic this look is! Perfect for a lazy weekend or a trip out to run errands. Check out the pieces here.

To me, leopard goes with just about anything. I LOVE it. The leopard shoes add a little something extra to this look. These Tory's are pricey, but you can also get other leopard flats here at Old Navy for $20. Check out my look on Polyvore here
Whats awesome about this look, is you can change out the shoes to of course leopard flats, or even brown riding boots. Throw on a scarf ( I am thinking a mustard yellow) to change it up too. Yellow is also a color that would look so awesome with the green of the jacket. Get this look here
This is what I wore this past weekend, until I got too hot to wear the jacket of course! I loved this look because it was effortless and something I could easily throw together. Check out the pieces here
You can check out my original post right here to see where you can find an awesome jacket! Go out and get one for your fall wardrobe!

Well Its a Major Award!

So...where's my leg lamp to put in my front window? Just kidding. But really if anyone wants to send one my way I would be totally ok with it :) I was nominated for the....

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Sarah Beth over at Our Family of Three. She has a great blog, a beauty for a daughter and the craftiness I wish I had! Check her out! I was so excited I was chosen  for this! Sometimes you think "does anyone really follow me at all?" and then this happens that reminds you why you do this whole blogging thing, so thank you!!

1. I want to learn how to beatbox. I think its so awesome and woud be even cooler to do! If I ever had the chance to be on MTV's Made (does that show even still exist?) I would want to be made into a beatboxer :)
2. When I laugh really hard (like a good belly laugh), I get really weak and pretty much become useless. Its like I am laughing so hard my body just becomes limp. According to my husband I can't laugh and do something else at the same time.
3. I'm not a natural blonde....I highlighted my hair for the first time in tenth grade and never looked back!
4. My best friend is also my cousin. We are one month and eight days apart in age and went to school together. Right now she is a lead singer/performer on a cruise ship for Norwegian Cruise Lines....coolest job ever!
5. It's a dream of mine to live in NYC... I've been visiting there since I was little and instantly fell in love with it! It is, hands down, my favorite place to visit.
6. It's a pet peeve of mine when someone who isn't my friend/family calls me "hun." Like a waitress, or a customer, or especially someone younger than me. Nope, I am not your hun, thanks :)
7. I am not one of those moms who puts themselves last. I most certainly don't put myself first but I do make sure I make time for myself. I am lucky enough to have a husband who is so wonderful and gives me the opportunity to do so. I honestly think if I take time for myself and take care of myself I am a better person and a better mommy/wife! A girl needs her shopping trips, mani's and pedi's!!!!!

Ok now I am supposed to pass this award onto seven other bloggers....these are the blogs that I have grown to absolutely love and make it a point to read every day!
No go check out those blogs and see why I love them!

Also linking up today with Molly over at Stilll Being Molly for YOLO Mondays!!

High Five for Friday

I decided to link up today with Lauren at From My Grey Desk....grab the button on my sidebar and join in!

Headed to an event Wednesday night with my friend, Jess. A regional lifestyle magazine, Susquehanna Style was hosting!
1. A few of Susquehanna Style's magazines. Love it. Look forward to getting it in the mail!
2. One of the dessert stations had mini Gobs (or Whoopie Pies as people also call them). I had the Pumpkin AND the Chocolate. They were mini, so having more than one was totally valid!!
3. My preggo belly is the perfect place to hold my pint of Peanut Butter (low fat) yogurt from my custard shop. Delish.
4. Lastly, my husband told me to be ready tomorrow morning at 11:30. I have no clue where we are going or what we are doing, but I am super excited!!!! I love surprises!!!! Yay!
Happy Friday!

Current Crush: Military Jackets

This week, I'm talking military jackets with all of the ladies over at Framed Frosting! Head on over there and link up!

I love military inspired jackets. They go with SO MUCH! Plus, they are so lightweight that they work with a lot of seasons. Light enough to not make you too hot, and heavy enough for those crisp fall days, and even cool summer nights. Here are a few I found that I love...

Check out some faves I found right here
Now you may be thinking...what could I wear this with? A LOT!!! Here is a list of a few things I think it would be paired well with...
1. Anything orange. A shirt, a scarf, cute flats.
2. Leopard- scarf, shoes (again I am thinking flats)
3. Bronze or gold accessories. A bold necklace, bangle, or earrings.
4. Slap on a fedora with this jacket and you will be good to go too!
5. Brown riding boots
Here is a simple outfit I put together at Polyvore a while ago....
I'm so inspired by this type of jacket I will throw together some outfits with a military jacket for you all, so check back next week for a post!!
Happy Thursday!

Dry Shampoo Saves the Day

Someone in the beauty world must have realized that there are a lot of lazy women out there. That, and we are busy. Which makes us tired. I don't know about you, but when I am tired I get lazy. When I get lazy I would rather sleep a few minutes later or sit on the couch for just ten minutes more.

Welcome into my world dry shampoo. A.Maze.Zing. Love it. Obsessed with it. Can't get enough of it. Its perfect for those lazy, tired days. Not to mention, its actually better to not wash your hair every day.

I attempted three different dry shampoos, all available at Target (and other similar places like Target). I tried Tressemme, Suave, and Dove.

I purchased this at Target, under $5.00

Ok I only had a brief encounter with this, because the whole can leaked. Yes, leaked. Everywhere. I grabbed it out of my cabinet to use it, and while getting smacked in the face with the scent of it realized it leaked all over the place.  I will say this though-

1. Pro- it didn't go on as gray/white looking as others.
2. Pro- the price. Can't beat under five bucks.
3. Con- it smelled like my grandmother's hair spray. Think Aquanet. I really, really did not like the smell at all.
4. Con- the leaking can. Really? Come on....
5. Pro- like most or all dry shampoos it has a continuous spray nozzle which  makes it so much easier to use.

Purchased at Target, $5.29.
1. Pro- price.
2. Pro/con- smell. Its not as bad as the Dove, but not the best smelling (to me).
3. Pro- Sprays on easily
4. Pro-It takes the oily-ness out of my hair. I can rely on it to get me through another day without looking gross.
5. Con- After you spray it onto your hair, per the directions, you have to wait a minute or two until you use a brush to comb through your hair. Anything that requires me to add a few more minutes to my daily routine gets a con in my book.
6. Con- Does have a white-ish/gray-ish tint to it, so you have to be careful that you thoroughly work the product through your hair.
7. Pro- adds some texture to my hair.

Purchased at Target, $2.49 (online price)

1. Pro- price (just like all the others)
2. Pro- smell. I liked the smell of this the best. Its like a fruity delicious scent and I enjoy it!
3. Pro- you don't have to wait a minute or two once you spray it onto your hair. Spray and comb through. The fact that I don't have to wait at all is a bonus.
4. Pro- you don't have to comb it through your hair with a comb or brush. You can use your fingers...awesome! Sometimes I feel like my own fingers and hands work better than an actual brush.
5. Pro- it adds texture to my hair. I think it helped with volume and made it feel less weighed down.
6. Con- spray is gray/white so you have to be careful to thoroughly work the product into  your hair.
7. Con- at a certain point in the day I felt as though it may have contributed to my hair being a little knotty.

Ok, so there you have three (or maybe two and a half) dry shampoos that I have tried. I think, overall, I liked the Suave the best. It seemed to do the trick and saved me the most time (and money!).

Keep in mind though, I am no expert when it comes to this kind of stuff....I am just a gal trying to save a few extra minutes but still look good.  Its strictly my unpaid, unbiased opinion!

Moral of the story? Keep your hair healthier by skipping a wash or two AND sleep in a few extra minutes and grab some dry shampoo....Suave Dry Shampoo!

Fall Look Book In the Making

Hey ladies (and gents? Yes? No...). I am in the processing of creating a post of my very own fall look book-must haves for the season. Things that every wardrobe should have, and where to get them!

Here is where you come in.....

I have my ideas, like the lovely ikat print, the ever awesome blazer (a staple for me) and of course jewel toned jeggings.

BUT- I am sure there are things I will miss or not include! Thats why I would LOVE your input! I get my ispiration from others, from things I see, read, hear, etc. So there might be something that YOU are considering a must have and I haven't even thought about it!

So comment away....what are fall must haves that I should include in my look book???

Bring on the fall! I am SO over this heat!!!

Nice Buns...

Happy Monday! Linking up with Still Being Molly  today for YOLO Mondays...head on over and check her out! Also Monday Meet Up (grab the button from my sidebar!)

So I have been dying to try the whole sock bun thing. I haven't always been that creative when it comes to my hair- let me just preface this whole post with that.

One day when I was in H&M, I stumbled on this funny looking thing....

Looks like a stale doughnut. Or something you could scrub your dirty dishes with, right? Well for $3.99 at H&M, you can purchase this and have spotless pots and pans, or the perfect bun. Take your pick.
Like most directions for a sock bun, you do the following....

1. Put your hair in a ponytail at your desired length.
2. Pull your hair through the hole.
3. Starting at the very end of your hair, roll the dish scrubber down towards your head, making sure to securly wrap your hair around it.
4. I know, these directions are totally awesome.
5. Google how to do a sock bun and you will get lots of easy step by step directions or videos. I found some good ones here, and here. They use an actual sock too so you can see how thats done also.

Because I have some layers, its hard for me to get all of my hair tucked- I usually just wait until the very end to tuck it all and spread it out evenly so you can't see this contraption in my hair. Bobby pins are pretty handy as well.

What I like about it as opposed to using an actual sock, is that the texture of it gives a little bit of friction which allows the hair to stay in place easier. Here are a few pics of the end result...

You bet I am taking these pics of myself. In my office. Why? Because I am a total pro photographer.
And yes, I finally was able to get my hands on the perfect denim vest. Old Navy. Go check it out.
Finally my husband came home and took a blurry pic of my bun. This is like 8 hours in.

So there you have it. The sock bun. Or pot and pan scrubber bun. Whichever you prefer to call it. It really is a fool proof accessory to give you a different look. For me, its perfect for days I don't feel like doing my hair, or in between shampoos. Try it out!

Have any other tips for the perfect bun? Let me know!

High Five for Friday!

Linking up today for this lovely Friday. Grab the button on my blog and join in on the fun! This week....

1. My husband left me a little note in my blogging ideas notebook I carry with me a week or so ago but I've especially loved it this week for some reason :) Great little pick me up when I read it!

2. Strawberry Poppyseed and Chicken salad at Panera. My craving!!! I want it all day every day!!!

3. Just a little shopping trip to our favorite store, Target! Love that she is a shopper just like me!

4. I've been trying to master this whole sock bun thing for a while now and finally found the perfect thing to help me accomplish it...stay tuned for a post later this coming week! I'm sure the suspense is killing you!!

5. I'm at the beach. Just for the weekend, but still. Last little getaway before I'm chained down to an hour drive to the hospital! Yay for the beach!!!

Have a great weekend everyone! See you Monday!

Ok, Thursdays just rock because its almost the weekend, and because its the Always, Sometimes, Never link up. These three girls make me laugh, and I enjoy reading their blogs because not only are they funny but they are real!! Anyway, go check out their blogs....I promise you won't be disappointed! Check them out here... (I am working on getting their button up...see Blogging for Dummies comment below!) Brie at Sophistifunk, Taylor at The Daily Tay, and Ellen at This Hive.

Always plan my outfits ahead of time. I mean being pregnant its not like I have a ton to choose from, but I still have to pick it out ahead of time.
Sometimes I actually leave the house in something close to what I originally chose.
Never do I leave the house in the exact (down to the jewelry) outfit I chose. I'm fickle!

Always am planning what my next blog post is going to be. Random stuff inspries me.
Sometimes feel like I need to read Blogging for Dummies. I mean...there's so much shit to learn about blogging.
Never want to compare my blog to others, because we are all so different, but its so hard not it. So I guess I could say I maybe always do. I am my own worst critic!

They used me as the model for the cover. Don't I have gorgeous eyes?

Always sing at the top of my lungs in the car. Yes, I am the weirdo in the car next to you at the traffic light.
Sometimes I know all the lyrics, and sometimes I don't
Never do I let the fact that I don't know the words stop me from singing. Never.

Always compare my body to other women....I am a woman, I can't help it.
Sometimes think to myself "yikes maybe I am not so bad." (not too often though!)
Never want my daughter (and soon to be daughter) to grow up with the same mentality as me...I am trying!

And a HUGE thank you to Brie at Sophistifunk for choosing me as her fave Always.Sometimes.Never from last week! Yay!!!! :)

This Week's Crush...

Happy Thursday, everyone! It's the middle of the night. I'm wide awake, so I figured why not bang out my Current Crush post for this week? Danielle at Framed Frosting hosts this little gem of an idea.

Anyway, I certainly have a few crushes that I want to share. I am certain you will be crushing too once you feast your eyes on them!!!

Just when I thought I had my Blair Ritchey fix, she goes and posts this picture to facebook and instagram (Thanks, Blair). And now I want one. Like yesterday.

Yes. I know. Now you want one too. The Mini Kantner. Just as her website says: Simplistic. Functional. Luxury. For $55-$65 a mini, you can't beat it. Especially because of the quality- genuine lambskin or suede, AND they are made to order. Made to order! That means its made just.for.you.

AAAAHHHHHH! The Lillith Fringe Necklace from Stella and Dot. This is on my wishlist. I can't wait to wear it. It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine. Check out all the details right here! And once I get it and it stops  being hot as balls outside...this is exactly how I will wear it. I have had this outfit in my head for weeks and have all the pieces ready and waiting for me in my closet....thank you, once again, Polyvore for letting me bring my vision to life for my lovely blog readers. I also have a gorgeous pair of Aldo black platform heels I'd love to pair with this look too.

My last crush, but certainly not the least, is once again, amazing Stella and Dot. I am loving the trend of stacking bracelets. I think it looks totally awesome, when done the right way. Check out these beauties....you can easily see why they are a crush. Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme! Check 'em out right here!

And there you have it....when I fall, I fall hard! I'll take it all, please!!

A Must Have Accessory....

Over the 12 years I have been with my husband (7 of them married), he has been schooled on fashion, whether he likes it or not.

This past weekend my parents were awesome enough to have a small family gathering at their house for us. I was heading out the door in the morning to meet a friend for breakfast and asked my husband to get me my denim jacket. As quickly as he opened his mouth to say "aren't you going to be hot," he stopped himself and said, "oh right, its an accessory." (oh how I have taught him well!!)

Well duh. It is exactly that. An accessory. Very rarely...actually never, do I wear it as an actual jacket or coat to keep me warm. It is always, always, always an accessory. Plus, its been with me through thick and thin (literally) and my pregnant/not pregnant months!

So was I hot this weekend? Yes. Did I want to take the jacket off here and there? Totally. But it was part of the outfit!!It helped pull the whole look together, like the perfect necklace or a pair of awesome shoes! As I always say, "fashion before function." I know...I'm weird :)

Me and my denim jacket with my always fashionable cousins Katie and Laura

The next few pictutres show just how much I love a good denim jacket....you'll see how much of a must have accessory I think it is...(even for my daughter!!)

And thats enough pictures of me....really.

I did a little shopping to find some really great denim jackets that you could add to your accessory closet!! My jacket is Gap Denim. LOVE it.

Gap Denim Jacket, $69.95. Purchase here

Old Navy Denim Jacket, $34.94. Purchase here

Forever 21, $28.90. Purchase here

Urban Outfitters Levi's Trucker Jacket, $78.00. Purchase here

Last thing....as I was looking around in Old Navy a few weeks ago, I spotted a denim vest. Yep. A denim jacket without the sleeves. For some reason, I fell in love with it. BUT, I did restrain myself from buying it. I should have, because now I can't find it in my size and its not online! Aaaaahhh!!
I did find a version at UO though...check it out :)

Urban Outfitters BDG Cutoff Denim Vest, $59.00
Purchase here

I am still not going to stop checking at Old Navy! Imagine the possibilities with this vest! I am just in love!

Next time you are planning out your outfit, think about adding just one more accessory to it...it can create a whole new look...

Rainy Day Kicks

I was really relieved to actually wake up to rain. I happen to love it and it is much needed here in PA! Just having a few errands to run I didn't feel like getting super dolled up. Perfect day to wear my new comfy sneakers I stumbled on that I wanted to share with you.

These are PERFECT for the days where you are just too damn lazy to make an effort but don't want the whole dishevled, I just rolled out of bed look (while actually just rolling out of bed).

I truly did wear them, but chose to take a pic of them not on my feet. Can we say super-late-in-my-pregnancy-feet-swelling? Gross. So not hot.

What do I love about a good pair of cute sneaks, especially these? For starters, these were only $19.94 at Old Navy online. Now, they are only $15. They also come in brown. Also, the sequins. Gives it a little something extra, don't ya think? (Yep, just quoted Legally Blonde). Check them out here!

They are comfy. They are cute. They are ideal for lazy, rainy days. It pulls your whole outfit together. Isn't that awesome? Something as simple as a print on your shoes can just make the whole look work.

Since I am a pregnant beast at this point, I chose to not take a pic of myself. Instead, I put together my outfit via Polyvore. Wore the jeans (maternity of course), shirt, and the jewelry. I stacked the bracelets with my MK watch (another simple way to change the look of your outfit), added a VERY messy bun and was good to go!

What do you like to wear on rainy days???

Joining another link up today (I know...two posts in ONE day...send me to blogging jail.) with three lovely ladies who seem to share my humor and sarcasm! Check out Brie, Taylor, and Ellen.

Always have an appetite.
Sometimes finish the food on my husband's plate. How backwards is that?
Never forget to think about what I am going to eat for my next meal, mid bite.

Always hold the door for people when out in public.
Sometimes get a thank you for my over-the-top generosity of holding the door, sometimes don't.
Never forget to shout YOU'RE WELCOME!!!!!!! to the a-holes who don't say thank you :)

Always worry that when I am showering someone will break into the house to murder/kidnap me.
Sometimes think to myself then, "don't flatter yourself. not everyone wants to spend that much time with you to kidnap you."
Never wash my face in the shower without having one eye somewhat opened anticipating the kidnapper/buglar bursting in the bathroom. I know...morbid, right?!?!

Always get what I need to get done while at work (when not waiting on customers).
Sometimes get sidetracked by other things (blogging, online shopping, facebooking, blogging).
Never get what I need to get done while at work because of getting sidetracked.

Always pin the shit out of Pinterest.
Sometimes try the recipes. The easy ones of course.
Never try anything other than the easy recipes. One of these days maybe...really though, who am I kidding? Never going to happen.

There you have it. My always, sometimes, never. I could go on and on and on but really I am not that interesting. Well maybe a little. Just kidding...totally not.

Current Crush (at least for today)

So this week I am yet again linking up with Framed Frosting and Chubette Tales for this weeks Current Crush.

I assure you, after you see what I am crushing on, you will be too. I am that awesome. JK.....

Remember this post about my go to nail polish, OPI's Sweetheart? Well this week I decided to live dangerously and try something new....I know. I am cray cray.

And I totally forgot to take a pic when I first did it, so this is showing some wear and tear of the polish. Cut me some slack....I forget these things sometimes.

Both of these colors are Essie. They have been coming out with some really awesoe colors lately that I have been loving.

The base color is called Merino Cool. I purchased it for $7.79 at Target. Its a cool purple-ish gray. Love it.

The accent color on my ring finger is called Set in Stones. Also for $7.79 at Target. This is a color that I would NEVER put directly on my nails because its a bitch to get off. I've always thought that about any type of glitter nail polish, not just this particular brand/color. Its SO adorable and I am loving, loving, loving it. Can't wait to try it with other colors I have.

Thats all folks... :)
