Hollywood to Housewife: Fedora's and Orange Dresses

Welcome to week seven of Hollywood to Housewife, where I find a picture of a celebrity in an outfit I love (the "Hollywood"), and make it my own using pieces in my closet (the "Housewife"), and without making any new purchases.

I had the cutest, outfit picked out. The perfect Lauren Conrad blazer- but then it had to go and get 90 degrees outside....way too hot! So this week's outfit inspiration was totally last minute. Its really similar to my date night look a few weeks ago so I figured I couldn't go wrong with it!

Not to mention, Reese Witherspoon has great style. I'd describe it as classic, clean, and almost preppy. One I don't mind mimicking!

What I loved about this look (besides the fact that I already had every piece to create the look) was how cool it looked. And by cool I mean temperature!

Outfit Details:
Dress: Francesca's (old) /// Jacket: Target (old) /// Fedora: Target (old) /// Sandals: Charlotte Russe /// Purse: Target (old)

What celebrity style do you love? Any favorites?

Don't forget this coming Tuesday is the second link up of What She Wears! This month's look is a maxi (dress or skirt!) Style it up and come back Tuesday and link up!

Have a great weekend!

Perfect Picnic Attire: Army Green and Stripes

This past weekend was pretty great. Nice weather (ok it was a little windy), great friends and of course good food!

On Monday I thought it would be a great idea to pack a little picnic lunch (and by "pack" I mean swing by the local convenience store and pick up some sandwiches) and head to the local park. It was seriously so relaxing. Knowing we would be sprawled out on the picnic blanket and strolling in the park, I wanted to be somewhat comfortable! It was the perfect temp for a light sweatshirt-the kind of temp you wish it were year round. Not too hot that you are sweating your you-know-what off, but cool enough that you can wear long sleeves if you like.

Sweatshirt: Old Navy /// Skinnies: Target /// Shoes: Target /// Hat: Target /// Necklace: Target

There's not much to this picture, but I love how green the grass looks....so beautiful!

Best part of this little "photo shoot" was my little diva, Ella coaching me on how I should pose. Girl's got some questionable poses, but she knows her stuff :)

Bright as the Sun Blazer

A few months ago I found a gorgeous, bright, Gap blazer. For some reason, I am just now taking the tags off of it to wear.

I had been on the hunt for the perfect bright yellow blazer and couldn't resist when I saw this. The price was a bit high, but lucky for me I pretty much always (always) have Gap cash to spend, and they are always having some sort of sale. Yep, this gorgeous blazer was mine....allllllll mine!!

When I ordered it I immediately starting styling it in my head, which I do with most of what I buy. Nautical came to mind right away!

Apparently I thought this outfit was so awesome I wanted to give it a thumbs up?!?! Hahaha...what's up with that?

Outfit Details:
Blazer: Gap (similar) /// Shirt: Gap (similar) /// Jeans: Old Navy /// Bag: Blair Ritchey /// Shoes: Gap (similar

Two thumbs up!

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend! See you back here tomorrow!

Hollywood to Housewife: Printed Pants and Pink Shoes!

Welcome to week six of Hollywood to Housewife, where I find a picture of a celebrity in an outfit I love (the "Hollywood"), and make it my own using pieces in my closet (the "Housewife"), and without making any new purchases.

I am a believer that every trend is not for everyone, and that is ok! But in the same breath, I am also a believer that regardless of your body type, if you want to try out a trend, go for it. Its all in how you wear something and whether or not you rock it with confidence.  With that said though, this week's outfit I tried I wasn't totally confident in, mainly because I've got some junk in the trunk, so-to-speak, and a bold pattern isn't something that is the most flattering for a big badonkadonk! But- I wore these pants...and I wore them with the most confidence I could muster up!

So enter this week's outfit! I have always loved Jessica Alba...from her days in the movie Idle Hands (remember that movie with Devon Sawa??) to running an amazing company, she is awesome! Not to mention her style is phenominal.

The pink pants and the pink scarf were a both a bit much. I know I have said before how I am not one to be matchy-matchy but for the sake of the outfit, I did it (and all without having to buy anything!)!

I switched out the the scarf and added a bright yellow bag...another pop of color perfect with the black and white print.

Outfit Details:
Denim Jacket: Gap (similar) /// Tank: Target /// Pants: Old Navy /// Shoes: (similar) /// Scarf: Old /// Purse: Target (similar) /// Sunglasses: Target

What about you? What are your thoughts on printed pants? Do you ever try out trends knowing that they might not look the best on you but do it anyway?

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Traveling in Style and Comfort

With Memorial Day right around the corner, everyone's travel plans are most likely stepping into high gear. I don't know about you all, but I love to be comfy when I am traveling. I also like to look stylish (I know...surprised?). Whether I am riding in a car for several hours or hopping on an airplane (I say "hopping" like I am a jet setter or something...), I like to look put together.

So, I decided to throw together some looks that are sort of my go-to looks for travel! I do try to keep the accessories to a minimum, just for comfort (you know....the falling asleep in the car and whatnot). Also, I like my shoes to be able to slip on and off easily (again, comfort in the car or going through security in the airport).

These are typically my three top looks I gravitate towards...

             Skinny Jeans/Cardi

So what about you? What are your go-to outfits for when you are traveling? Also, check back at the beginning of June for my next post for Susquehanna Style magazine! It's all about how to/what to pack for your summer vacay's!

Happy Thursday! And see you back here tomorrow for Hollywood to Housewife!

Striped Maxi and Leopard

It's usually this time of year when I break out the maxi. I love a good maxi dress. I would wear them every day!! If fact, when I was pregnant last summer with Charlotte I am pretty sure I wore them every day! When I saw this one at Target, I knew I had to have it!!

At first, I was thinking what I could pair with it- brown, gold, maybe a bronzey (yep, bronzey) type color. Then, leopard came to mind. I thought it would be unexpectedly perfect- love to mix patterns!! Especially leopard- it goes with everything (at least to me it does!)

The slit on the side was a nice little twist to a standard maxi. It allowed a little peek of my leopard sandals, which you sometimes don't get when wearing a maxi! Plus, this dress was lined. It was really nice because some dresses you can see straight through! Perfect!

Have a great Tuesday! See you back here the rest of the week for another outfit post and this week's Hollywood to Housewife!

My First Virtual Consultation!!!

Happy  Monday everyone!

A few months ago I decided to add a little Hire Me page to my blog offering my styling services like at home consultations, shopping excursions and even virtual consultations!

I am super late in posting this, but several weeks ago, I was able to have my very first virtual style consultation! Lori, a reader of my blog contacted me for a virtual consultation. I was over the moon, beyond excited, thrilled, and had to pinch myself! THANK YOU, Lori!

After a few emails back and forth, we were able to chat on the phone. Typically, in the initial phone conversation or skype session, I try and find out as much info as possible. Lori was able to tell me certain styles she likes, doesn't like, where she shops, and any specific looks she wanted me to put together. As much as this is about me putting looks together for the client and coming up with looks that might lead them to say "Oh I never thought to pair that together," I still want to create looks that they will be comfortable in and actually wear!

Throughout the whole process, I used Polyvore, and created a collection just for Lori. After a couple of looks, I would email them to her for feedback: what do you like, not like, anything that needs to be changed, etc. We staying in constant contact as I was shopping for her-her feedback was so great!

Here are a couple of looks I created- you can see I labeled them as to what I specifically created them for!

       Daytime/Date Night/Girls Night
I really had the best time doing this for Lori...it did not feel like "work" at all...I absolutely loved every minute of it! The only downfall....my wishlist grew A LOT by the time I was done doing this! Oops!

So thank you, Lori for taking a chance on me and hiring me! You're making a dream of mine come true!!

Hollywood to Housewife: Orange and Pink

Yes....my orange pants are making an appearance for the second time this week. They are just that awesome!

Welcome to week five of Hollywood to Housewife, where I find a picture of a celebrity in an outfit I love (the "Hollywood"), and make it my own using pieces in my closet (the "Housewife"), and without making any new purchases.

This week I wanted something a little bright, springy, if you will. Appropriate for the season! What I love about Heidi Klum's outfit is the unexpected combination of colors. Most wouldn't pair pink and orange together, but for some reason it just works. Its nice to think outside of the box sometimes and pair something together that you normally wouldn't! (I saw this picture in a magazine as well, and although they look somewhat red in the picture below...I swear they are orange!)

I wasn't quite sure about the pink shoes AND the pink shirt, because I am not one to be "matchy matchy," like if I wear leopard shoes I won't wear a leopard scarf. But, my husband reminded me of the point of Hollywood to Housewife, so thus...I wore pink shoes. (and yes, my husband was involved in this post, more than just taking the pics!) I also didn't have a pink purse, so I thought the gold clutch was a good compliment! I also loved that she kept her accessories to a minimum. It added to the simplicity of the look. And I have a feeling in real life I probably would only go up to Heidi's shoulders...

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Gap /// Pants: Target /// Shoes: Charlotte Russe /// Clutch: Target

And just because....

Don't be surprised if you see these orange pants again. And again. They are just that awesome. I highly suggest you head to Target and get them!

Bright Orange Pants and Polka Dots!

Nothing like a bright pair of pants and polka dots to brighten your day, right? You really can't go wrong with polka dots. Or orange pants. And it wasn't until later in the day I realized I was dressed head to toe in Target! It doesn't surprise me though!

Aren't these bracelets adorable? I bought them initially for my daughters Ella and Charlotte. But even cuter, is on the side of each letter they have an engraved word- for the E: energy. For the C: confidant. How cute?!?!

Happy Wednesday!

My Fave New Spring Bag and my What She Wears Linkup Winner!

At the change of each season (and several times throughout each season) I like to go on a quest for the perfect bag. I know I have chatted on this little blog of mine before about Blair Ritchey and her gorgeous handmade handbags. She makes each of her items and you can definitely tell her attention to detail when you see them.

I have had the cobalt blue Mini Lulu for a while now and have used it a good bit. I keep it in my purse all the time to hold little incidentals like lipstick, then sometimes, like below, I use it as a clutch. One of my favorite looks with it is here...

So, when I saw that she came out with a Going to Market Tote I knew I had to have it for the spring/summer! Its made from a sturdy cotton canvas and is accented with royal blue piping. The detail in the rope handles just adds to the list of reasons I had to have it!

And I figured, while I was browsing, I might as well purchase a wallet in fuchsia...why not?

Her packaging is top notch. It really is. From the shipping label with her logo to the sticker holding the tissue paper together, to the hand written note she includes, its just so cute. Aren't packages way more fun to open when they are cutely done?

I wasted absolutely no time taking it out of the box to use it...it hasn't left my side yet!

Doesn't the fuchsia wallet compliment the tote perfectly?

The adorable Going to Market screen print.

The rope handles...the rope handles!! Just love them!

If you are in the market for a new bag for the season you have got to check out Blair's collection. With her handmade quality and attention to detail you will be hooked, and it will be so worth it!

Now on last week's What She Wear's linkup! Thank you to those who linked up with us for your date night look! I loved all of the entries, but I have to say, my absolute favorite look, my "winner" was.....

Becky from Cella Jane

Where do I begin with this look? From her statement necklace to her shoes, I would wear every last piece. I love the look of pairing edgy heels with boyfriend jeans. And a statement necklace? You can't go wrong with that, can you? Becky is definitely a stylish fashionista who has impeccable style, which is obvious in her date night look above! Can't wait to see what else she puts together! Not to mention...she is absolutely gorgeous!

So lets talk about next month's theme! Drum roll please..............

Maxi skirts/dresses!!

So head to your closet and grab your favorite maxi skirt or dress, style it up and link up the first Tuesday in June with DawnelleCourtneyKaleighMeagan and myself! Don't worry...we will remind the crap out of you so you don't forget!
