Because There's a Blizzard....Our Mexican Adventure

I am just about done with all of this snow....close to 20 inches, and its still snowing as I type this. And we are supposed to get more tonight. Yay!! Not.

I figured, since a few weeks ago today I was lounging by the pool I would do a little recap of our trip. If you follow me on instagram then you have most likely seen most of these pictures. I am craving the warmth, so here you go....

We went to Play Del Carmen. If you have never been, I totally recommend it. I know a lot of people say when you visit Mexico to not leave your resort or anything. That wasn't the case here. It was SO charming, so quaint, and I felt totally safe off of the resort. Our resort was surrounded by really gorgeous homes, and within walking distance (about a mile) was what they call Fifth Avenue. It is miles long, filled with your authentic Mexican shops (where I got my handmade leather purse) and then a lot of your larger stores like Zara, Tommy Hilfiger, Benetton. There were so many restaurants too. We went to Fifth Avenue I think three times!

Although we went with a group of over 60 people, I don't think we had one picture taken of us, other than selfies!  I found a lot of these pictures on my phone!!

One of the days the weather was a little crappy (until we decided to get dressed and head out to fifth ave...then it got nice of course!). We grabbed lunch at this cute little restaurant. Of course, being that we were in Mexico, I got a Bacon Cheeseburger. Duh. (I did have enough chips and guac to last a lifetime though)

We got one of these little leather purses, in pink of course, for Ella. She loves it!

When we got to fifth ave and I saw this, it was like the clouds opened and the chorus began singing. Sadly, I didn't get anything! It was hard to shop for clothing. my mindset was in summer weather, but I knew it was obviously not summer here at home. It was still fun to shop though :)

How adorable is the street that our resort was on. There were a lot of resorts along this road on one side of the street, and then gorgeous homes directly across from us! We went for a walk every morning before breakfast...it was lovely.

The second to last day is when things escalated quickly! On the first day there was word of a pong tournament. We thought, why they heck not? It had been pretty much since college that we played on a regular basis, with a few random games thrown in here and there over the years!

We ended up making it to the championships, only to lose! But- we did lose to the owner of the company- the company that was paying for our trip, so we just used the excuse that "we thought it would only be right to let them win." Or something like that......

Meanwhile, while the pong tournament was going on, other people in our group started to play flip cup, which we joined in on in between our games. Slowly but surely our game got bigger, and bigger, and bigger and other random people at the pool started to join in. We were loud, we were rowdy, but it was so fun. So much so, that the hotel lobby called the pool bar to stop serving everyone for the flip cup game. Apparently they could hear us all the way in the lobby? Like I said...things escalated quickly. But! Everyone (including those not in our group) seemed to have such a blast! It was nice to meet and chat with people from all over the world! Let me just say that you should never judge a book by its cover. People my age (32) and older can really hold their own! Although we were a little rowdy (I told my husband if we were on vacay just the two of us and there was a large group like us being loud I would be so annoyed...hahaha!) it was nice to let loose a little bit and not have to worry about shifting back into "Mommy mode" right away!

All in all, it was such a great time. I would take being there over all of this snow in a heartbeat! And again, if you are thinking of heading to Mexico, Playa Del Carmen is a great place to go!!

Have a great weekend! Oh and Happy Valentine's Day!!
