Valentine’s Day is a Hallmark Holiday (but I will still accept gifts)

Back in the day when my husband and I were young, carefree college students with not a worry in the world we really celebrated Valentine’s Day. Little getaway’s, jewelry from Tiffany’s, flowers…the works!

Fast forward 14 years, a mortgage, a two children, Valentine’s Day goes something like this.

Me: “Honey, you didn’t get me anything for Valentine’s Day, did you? Because you don’t have to. And I didn’t get you anything. Like don’t even bother with a card.”

Husband: ” No I didn’t get you anything….I wasn’t planning on it. Let’s just make dinner after the girls go to bed.”

And you know what? I am totally ok with that. I don’t need a holiday to express my love. He spoils me on other occasions, like my birthday and our anniversary! I’d rather do a spontaneous date night or something along those lines! It’s more fun that way! (now would I object if we were to go all out like we used to? Heck no!)

Despite our lack of celebrating (with each other…I get cute goodies for our girls!), I did pick out a few things that I am lusting after and would love to add to my closet, purse, house, all of the above!

Bare Minerals READY Eyeshadow True Romantic. How appropriate, right? I have a few of Bare Minerals Ready shadows and I love them! You can never have too many!!

Who doesn’t love a pair of classic Hunter’s? I have a black pair, and have a colorful pair on my list to purchase next (either in red or pink…thoughts? Opinions?)

Ohhhh May Designs!! I have designed, and redesigned a planner I don’t know how many times and have yet to purchase one. I just can’t decide on a design I like. I will pick one, but then change my mind, and then change it again because they are all that awesome. The chevron planner and the heart note card is just adorable!!

You all know my love for Blair Ritchey! I have had the same key chains since high school and college (so over 14 years old….wow). I think it might be time for a little upgrade with her tassel keychain!

I can’t get enough of Alex and Ani lately. I have been wearing mine just about every single day and have been stalking the website to see what I want to add to it. This “My Other Half” bangle is so adorable and appropriate for the holiday, right?

Have a great Thursday, everyone!! I am sitting tight for the next several days- we are supposed to get 12-18 inches of snow on top of the 5 (at least) inches of snow and ice we already have. Poor Ella will be going to school until July if this keeps up. Either that or I will be committed. One of the two!

Our conversation was identical to yours, I just can't even bother with all the nonsense. I just want to spoil the kids and snuggle up with him on the couch after bedtime!

I agree that it is somewhat of a "Hallmark holiday", but I still like to get fun gifts and treats for my husband and son. Snuggling and a nice dinner is a must too! ;)AmyMariposa Medley

We did fondue at home with friends, and it was GREAT!! Agreed though, it's become kind of a non-holiday:) A popcorn and movie on the agenda for tomorrow night. Then into bed by 11 I'm sure. Oh the life of a parent!
