Comfort Wins Every Time

It really does. No matter what I wear, in the end comfort seems to win. Start the day in heels? End it in flats. I always have a pair of flats with me, no matter what. Because I get dressed up during the week so much for work, including Saturday's, it is nice to end the weekend on a comfortable note. Once I get home from church I typically toss on whatever is the most comfortable and live in that, or something similar until I head back into work on Tuesday!

I shared these shoes I am wearing on instagram- a recent purchase when I went in for dry shampoo! I have been on a sneaker kick lately! I can't get enough of them and seem so drawn to them!

Outfit Details:

Call it old(er) age, or just wanting to be practical, but comfort is totally at the top of my priority list! Long gone are the "fashion before function" days!

Floral Frenzy

I don't really have much to say about this outfit other than I love this dress. Absolutely love it. You see, when I am shopping for my store, every once in a while I find something that I fall in love with for me. When I see it, I don't have the customer in mind, I have me in mind! That is exactly how it was when I saw this dress. I fell even more in love with it when I tried it on. It is one of those dresses that is flattering on every body type. That made me love it even more!

What also great about dresses like these, is that they are pretty versatile. I wore this to work last week, and then again to church on Sunday. Super easy to take from day to night to weekend!

Dress: Elizabeth & West (currently taking pre orders!) /// Shoes: Target (option) /// Bag: Target (specific color available in store) /// Necklace: Brin and Bell, c/o Julie Vos /// Bracelets: Target, Alex and Ani /// Watch: Target /// Sunglasses: Target

If I have discovered anything from wearing this dress, its that I love floral print anything. It's not that I wasn't a fan before, I just didn't have a ton in my wardrobe. Because of this dress, I am totally on the lookout for more! Absolutely loving it!

Can't-Live-Without-Them Beauty Faves + a GIVEAWAY!

Beauty products, just like fashion, is always evolving. I wouldn't consider myself a product junkie, but I do like to try new things from time to time, depending on the price. Nothing is worse than unloading your wallet for a beauty product that ends up being pretty terrible! (Luckily though most places have a great return policy even on beauty products)

Sometimes though, I strike it rich, and find products that just work for me. I immediately fall in love with them and they become a permanent fixture in my daily beauty routine.

1. Sally Hansen Airbrush Leg is the best. I don't know how I have lived without this for so long. One of my customers told me about this a few weeks ago and I went out the next day and got it. It doesn't completely hide all of my cellulite and imperfections on my legs but it certainly masks them a good bit. I am telling you- if I am wearing anything other than pants or a maxi, this goes on my legs. It is super easy too. Spray into your hands, rub evenly on your legs, let it dry for 60 seconds and you are good to go. Totally fool proof. It looks natural as well. Like my legs don't look insanely tan or orange compared to the rest of my body! I am currently using medium. I got light for the later months when I may not have a little bit of a tan!

2. Bare Minerals Pure Radiance is also great for the summer months. I usually apply this lightly all over my face. It's also the last thing I usually do. It gives just enough glow. I also feel like it helps hold my makeup in place a little longer too (although the mineral veil is meant for that and works really well too). There are plenty of shades to choose from, including clear if you don't want a little tint at all!

3. I started using Rejuvacote a few years ago when I was teaching. One of my students used it and got me hooked on it. I forgot about it for a while and recently started using it again. It works so well- I notice my nails grow quicker and are stronger when I use it. It works really well as a base coat, and just makes your nails look more polished (no pun intended, I swear) when used alone as a clear coat. I swear by this stuff for your nails!

4. I have always wanted to give the whole 'cat eye' thing a try but was never brave enough to until Benefit came out with their new eye liner They're Real Push Up Liner. The AccuFlex tip does make it pretty easy to apply. It lasts a long time and doesn't smudge either. So far, so good! The price tag is higher than what I am usually willing to pay for makeup, but a little bit goes a long way, and I don't use it every day!

5. Dry shampoo is something that I can't live without. I have tried a bunch over the last couple of years. Some have been great, some just ok. I got Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Dry Shampoo on a whim to try when I was at Target the other week. (that was the morning I went in for just dry shampoo and came out with all of this) I had no clue Target sold NYM products there! I have been using their sea salt spray for a while and love it, so thought I would give this a try! Let me tell you, it is amazing. It leaves my second and third day hair fresher, fuller looking and the smell is good too. I also like to spray a little at my roots, even on my freshly washed hair just to give it a little texture and lift.

6. Oh where do I even begin about this highlight/contour palette! I had a small one from Target (NP Set) which is good for beginners but have been looking to expand a little and actually learn how to highlight and contour! Aubrey from The Kinch Life had posted about this Blank Canvas Cosmetics palette a few weeks ago along with a really great how-to video. The price tag is even better! I have been using it every day, and absolutely love it. Love. It. And honestly, it doesn't add that much time to my beauty routine! (PS- this is another great tutorial. A little bit more involved but awesome!

7. This Cover Girl eyeshadow in Champagne is an oldie but goodie. I feel like I have had this in and out of my makeup bag since I started wearing makeup! Now, I like to swipe it on my brow bone (I also like Bare Minerals Queen Phyllis) for a subtle shimmer. I also like to dab a little on my cheekbone for some added shimmer to my whole look!

There you have it! My most favorite beauty products that I can't live without! Wallet friendly (for the most part), and products that actually work really well!!

Now onto the super fun stuff (and speaking of beauty!!)! Excited to be teaming up with Ashley from Afternoon Espresso and some other great ladies to bring you an awesome giveaway!! Best of luck to you all! Take it away Ashley....

Wear It Four Ways: Denim Boyfriend Shorts

You all know by now how much I love my new shorts. I have worn them just about every day since I got them. Literally. Every day. If anything I have discovered how versatile they really are. From date night, to a family night, they are perfect.

What's so great about them is that you can dress them up (and down, obvi) without sacrificing comfort! Total win win!

Here are a few styling options for them. You don't need to just reserve them for casual, dress down days!

Outfit 1:
Tee: Target /// Shorts: American Eagle /// Cardigan: Target /// Bag: Forever 21 /// Sunglasses: Target /// Shoes: Keds
Outfit 2:
Kimono: H&M (similar)/// Sunglasses: Forever 21 /// Tank: Target /// Bracelet: BaubleBar (similar) /// Sandals: DSW
Outfit 3:
Top: H&M /// Sunglasses: Target /// Necklace:  Capwell /// Shoes: Forever 21 /// Wallet: Blair Ritchey
Outfit 4:
Bracelet: Stella and Dot /// Bag: Stella and Dot /// Shoes: New Balance /// Hat: Mrs. McKenzies Monograms /// Sweatshirt: H&M

The first outfit is just a pretty casual look that can be worn for just about anything. Errand running, trips to the park with your kids, play dates! My love for kimonos was the reasoning behind the second look- a more casual-but sort of dressy-look. The third, obviously is a little more dressy- perfect for date night! The last, the most casual and to me, the most comfy!

If I haven't won you over yet, I don't know what will! These shorts are the way to go- so comfy, so versatile and the price is pretty great too!

Where the Magic Happens: A Home Office Tour

Oh, the home offices of a blogger. Gorgeous, right?

I see, pretty much all the time, little glimpses into other bloggers' home offices. They are perfect. Everything matches, down to their pen or pencil. There isn't a speck of dust to be seen, the coffee is always just warm enough. Not too hot that you can't take a sip, but not too cold that it's not enjoyable anymore. (and it is always sipped out of a fabulously chic mug. Duh.)

Their sleek Lucite chair is draped in a monogrammed, chevron throw that is perfectly coordinated with the metallic accessories. You all know those offices right? A blogger's office. A home office, at that!

I am a nosy (or rather curious) person. When my husband and I are out and about at night, I find myself trying to catch a glimpse into people's windows as we drive by. Not in a creepy way, I am just curious I guess ( I will give you a minute to go draw your blinds now). I love to catch a little glimpse into others' lives. It's kind of cool just to see how others live, right?

The same curiosity translates into the blogging world. I love when other bloggers give 'home tours' or dedicate posts to a day in their life, or renovating their homes, or their home offices. They usually include a picture of the blogger sitting at their desk looking as put together as ever, like "wait, what are you doing here? Oh a picture? Why sure, I'd be happy to pose for one!" And of course the same goes for the pictures that fill my instagram feed- the staged, but not so staged photos of a blogger's desk. Everything looks so perfectly coordinated, does it not?

I know I speak for everyone (especially fellow bloggers) when I say we are totally jealous of these amazing offices. I would have one of these in a heart beat! I am pretty certain though that I possess no creative gene whatsoever as far as decorating goes. Nor does my bank account allow for it!

So without further ado, here is a little tour of my magnificent, super stylish home office....enjoy, be jealous, happy pinning (because I know this shit is going to be blowing up pinterest)

Part of my gorgeous desk...if anything, it is super comfy.

Sometimes, I do have help in my office. Good help is hard to come by. They like to give their input...

My office mate. He gives his input. Sometimes willingly, sometimes reluctantly. But, we don't have a choice but to share the office.

How perfect is my desk? Everything coordinates so well, down to the used paper towel and thermometers (yep there are two, one for the mouth, one for the butt...the baby's butt that is).

Two things my desk cannot be without: back issues of People StyleWatch and InStyle, and the baby monitor. And sometimes a glass of Diet Pepsi. In whatever glass is clean.

See that fab chair? I guess you could say that is my lucite chair. Always draped with whatever jacket I wore, an empty purse and whatever else is tossed on there from clearing the kitchen table for dinner that night. Oh and yeah that's a Dyson Pet Vacuum. Be jealous.

The obligatory pose in my office!

There you have it. I am almost certain you pinned just about every picture as they are full of inspiration! Haha!

Really though, this may be a totally sarcastic post, this is a true glimpse into my life! This is what my evenings look like. Except most of the time I am already in my pajamas when I am working on my post. You caught me on a good night when I was still dressed, so there's that.

Tomorrow, I'll be back to wrap up the week with styling these shorts four ways, so stay tuned!

The Week of the Cut Offs

I shared with you guys yesterday how much I love my new shorts. They are a good length for a thirty something Mommy (with cellulite, right?!) When I packed for my weekend home, I literally planned every outfit around these shorts. It was just easier to pack that way, plus they are pretty versatile so I knew I could get a lot of wear out of them. I had planned on wearing them pretty casually all weekend! Pairing it with one of my kimono's was a no brainer. I have been so drawn to them lately! I rounded up some pretty cute ones for you since the one I am wearing is no longer available. You get the idea though! And yes, you guessed it, I will be styling these shorts four ways later this week, so check back!

Like I said, I wore these this weekend when visiting my family. With your blog, you typically get into a routine as far as schedules, when you take pictures, where you take pictures, who takes your pictures. There are typically two people that I am comfortable with behind the camera- my friend Tabitha, and my husband! So when we were ready to roll out Sunday night, I asked my parents: "who is going to be brave and take my blog pics tonight?" My mom quickly declined as she cuts peoples' heads off a lot (I have headless prom pictures to prove it). My dad graciously said he would do it!

I started to go over with him my expectations, how I can be demanding, what kinds of pictures I prefer. "Beck, Beck, Beck, I read your blog every day, I know what kind of pictures you like!" Touche', Dad!

He did such  a great job taking my pictures, needed very little direction and at one point even said "how about we get a picture of your shoes, people are always commenting on your shoes." Perfect!!!

It feels so great to have my family so involved in my blog! I am certainly lucky with all of the support!
