Oversized Sweater

An oversized sweater and the holidays go together like peanut butter and jelly. I swear it's the perfect thing to wear when you know you will be indulging in one (or five. ok ten.) too many cookies. This Old Navy sweater is the perfect combination of the perfect length and comfort!

I will suggest sizing down a bit, because it does stretch after some wear, but regardless, it was still great! This would also look great with a pair of faux leather leggings and a cute pair of booties-the perfect casual, weekend outfit for all of those errands that have to be checked off your list.

I'll be rounding up my favorite looks from this past year on Friday...so crazy to think a whole year has come and gone. It's so true when people say the days are long but the years are short!

When All Else Fails...

...toss on all black! Really, you can't go wrong with pairing all black together with a pair of distressed jeans. It is something easy when you aren't in the mood to put any thought into what you are wearing, what matches, what doesn't, or when you have a matter of minutes to get ready!

To me, pairing all black together is a look that is so classic, and pretty timeless! No worries about it every going out of style!

Hope you all had a great Christmas! Ours was so much fun- filled with lots of squeals and giggles and "I asked Santa for this for Christmas!" as presents were ripped open. There really is nothing better than experiencing Christmas through your children's eyes, that's for sure. We surprised our girls with a trip to Disney World in February! We are headed there with my parents and brother, so it's sure to be a great time (and will make for some great blog content too)!

Anyway, enjoy the most basic of all looks....head to to black with a little distressed denim thrown in for good measure!

Staying Cozy at Home

There is something about this time of year that makes me love buying pajamas way more than any other time of year. I know this thought is the same for a lot of other people, too. New Christmas jammies seem to be a tradition in a lot of households, mine being one of them! The girls love getting them (and wearing them year round) just as much as I love getting them for myself! For myself though, I tend to purchase ones that are more "wintery" than ones that scream Christmas. I get more wear out of them if they aren't so Christmassy!

When I am home, you will find me in the comfiest of clothes 99% of the time. Unless what I am wearing that day is insanely comfortable, I am changing almost immediately once I get in the door!

I am usually not one for nightgowns, but I couldn't resist this one! Paired with the softest robe and cute slippers, it makes for the cutest "lounge at home" outfit!

When my husband and I were getting ready to shoot these pictures, he was kind of scrambling to put things away, move this here, that there. I stopped him and said this our house, this is what it looks like so this is what needs to be on the blog. It is cluttered, it is messy, there are dirty dishes in the sink, most likely some dog hair on the floor (uuggghhh Rocco!), but it is lived in! I am as guilty as the next girl that loves looking at bloggers' photos of them in their home. There isn't a speck of dust in sight. Everything has a place, the lighting is just perfect and every single picture is just so cute and adorable. But come on....really? No way it's like that all the time.

I would much rather post pictures on here that are realistic. (I mean, I do have limits...you don't need to see my closet which is a disaster) But you get the picture...this is my life!

I couldn't help but get a few snaps by our tree, also-I love our tree! I have never been (nor will I ever be) one of those people who has multiple trees in the house, or one of those "themed" trees. Don't get me wrong, they look great, but they just aren't me. You can have all the themed trees in the world. As for me, I will take my tree filled with ornaments from my childhood, Ryan's childhood, and ornaments the girls have made or received over the years!

Of course, none of this is available online, but they are all available in stores. Right now, there are great sales happening in store so head to your nearest Old Navy to see what they have in stock! Here are also some other options of cute holiday/winter jammies!

I'm signing off for the rest of the week. Have a great Christmas-I hope Santa brings you everything you've asked for, but more importantly, I hope you get to spend the holiday with those you love and that you remember the real reason for the holiday!

Poncho Style

Another cozy look I wore when I was home for my family Christmas party! I don't know if the whole poncho look is planning on going out of style any time soon, but I sure hope not. It is the perfect thing to wear when you just don't feel like sucking it in, but don't want to look sloppy!

A poncho is also a great layering piece as well. It has been unseasonably warm here in the northeast, so this poncho has been working great for me as my jacket. Once the winter decides to show itself, this would be a great additional layer just for some added warmth over your jacket!

I know I will be getting a lot of wear out of this poncho in the coming days. With a lot of last minute things to get done to gear up for Christmas (including scrambling to try and make sure our 7 year old continues to believe in Santa!), the comfort of an outfit like this will be welcomed!

Mixing Prints

I have said it before, I will say it again. Never in a million years did I think I would ever like mixing prints. There was definitely a time where the thought of mixing plaid and stripes would have caused me to roll my eyes and scoff (same goes for mixing black and brown). Now though, I embrace it. I feel like something like stripes can be looked at as something of a neutral (at least in my mind).

Not into mixing prints just yet? Try it like I did by adding a scarf. If you still aren't into it, just get rid of the scarf and you still have a super cute outfit!

This was a weekend outfit, full of comfort and function. Although Sunday is a day off it can fill up pretty quickly. I do like to use this day to dress up, but sometimes it just feels good to keep the comfort going!

On Repeat

Have you even come across something that you buy in multiple colors and then wear over and over again? I tend to do that a lot. If I find something I like I buy it in multiple colors. What makes it even better is when it is super affordable!

You last saw me where this sweater here in another super casual way. This would look great paired with a jersey dress, ankle booties and a floppy hat as well! (with 60 degree days in December you can definitely still pull off the bare legs).

I have worn this sweater quite a bit over the last several weeks. When I get home from work I typically like to change almost immediately into something comfortable. This sweater is something that I find myself still wearing well into the evening because it is just that comfortable!

I wore this specific outfit for my family's Thanksgiving dinner. We never get dressed up for it, which is totally ok with me! I knew I would be indulging that day, so this sweater was the perfect solution to hiding my food belly after dinner! (or any other meal of my life, really).

Holiday Shopping with 6pm.com

As much as I love shopping and gifting others, I do love shopping for myself (which I am sure is a huge surprise to you).

Around the holiday's I also tend to be a "one for me, one for you" shopper as well. I can't help it! I see something that is cute and the price is great I have to get it! I am always looking for a the best deal, especially around the holidays. I love to get a new outfit or article of clothing to wear to holiday parties, but nothing too over the top. My family isn't formal by any means, and any other holiday parties we have to attend are typically on the more casual side. My holiday style could be describe as anything but fancy, and I am totally ok with that!

6pm.com has such a great selection of name brands that I know both you and I love for up to 70% off! Love comes in every shape, sizeŠ and handbag. This season 6pm.com is encouraging you to Give Love and Get Love. 6pm.com has a great holiday gift guide with gifts for him & her $100 or less!

I had the best time (but also a hard time) picking a look for my holiday parties because they have such a great selection! I love some good, versatile pieces so I knew I wanted things that I could wear together and separately. These jeans fit the bill as far as fit goes- I looove a good legging jean! I knew this sweater would be perfect because I could (obviously) dress it down with jeans, but add a pair of cute black pixie pant to dress it up a bit. This jacket will most definitely last me throughout several winters to come. As much as I would love a fun colored jacket, black is just classic! Plus, it is under $80! For a Kenneth Cole jacket, $80 is such a great price!

They are also offering extended holiday returns! Orders placed from now until December 31st can be returned through February 28th. They also have  24 customer service from now until January 17th. It's nice they realize that people do their holiday shopping at all hours of the day and night (like me!).
