Poncho Sunday

I don't know about you, but I am loving this new poncho trend that is happening. I think it's the overall look of them, the variety of styles, prints, colors, and we can't forget the fact that they are so comfortable.

The thing about ponchos and getting them to work for you is all about styling. Most ponchos I have come across are one size which can be a good thing (makes it appeal to more sizes) but also a bad thing (doesn't fit everyone). I have tried on a few ponchos that just didn't work for me because I was either too short, or the one size was just too big for me (which is rare, because I am not the tiniest person on the block).

The trick is to just try on. Luckily, they are something you don't need to get fully undressed for in a fitting room! I usually just find the nearest mirror and toss it on over my outfit!

I loved the idea of adding a belt to it, just to give myself some sort of figure! I did wear it the night before unbelted and it was so comfortable!

Breaking Out the Ankle Booties

One of my favorite fall staples is the ankle bootie. For the past couple of fall/winter seasons I have worn a favorite pair or two repeatedly. With that said, I typically buy a new pair every season as well just because of that very reason. I wear them so much!

For me, sticking with a neutral sand/stone/taupe color has worked best for me. I have gotten the most wear out of them because the color is so neutral and versatile.

I wore this dress a few weeks ago on the blog (as well as pretty much every other day). I love it so much that I have been thinking of various ways to style it into the fall season. Seeing that I wore this pretty much identical outfit a few weeks ago, the only thing that I obviously needed to change to make it more seasonally appropriate were the shoes!

Here are a few neutral ankle booties that I wouldn't mind having in my wardrobe:

Rewear: High Waist Jeans

Yep. They are back again. I wore these jeans for Monday's post but in a more comfy/casual way. I figured I would dress them up a bit just to show their versatility and how easy it is to take a pair of jeans like these from day to night, casual to dressy. I kept the shirt (and jeans, duh.) the same but swapped my plaid button up for this vest (that has been in my closet for at least a year!) and my sneakers for heels. I also knotted the shirt again to show off the high waistedness (I know that's not even a word, but I am making it one) of the jeans. After all, whats the point of wearing them if you can't even tell?

I love being able to change something as simple as a top or shoes to take an outfit from day to night.

Must Get: Utility Jacket

Over the years, I have developed a list of wardrobe essentials (you can read my list here and here). A utility jacket (or some call a military jacket) is a must on that list. It's no exaggeration when I say I wear them year round- I treat it almost as an accessory rather than a function jacket. And yes, sometimes I even wear them in the summer, again as an accessory!

Because I feel it is such a wardrobe staple, I did a little digging in past posts just to show you all of the ways I have worn my (various) utility jackets. Yes, I have multiple. They vary in length, how dressy or casual they can be, how lightweight they are, etc. You really can't have too many!

Pretty versatile, right? And I can't even count the times I have worn them that weren't documented for the blog!

I've done all of the work for you and found a ton of really great options at all price points! Definitely one of the best closet staples I have!

Casual High Waist Jeans

I mentioned in this post all of my favorite things I found at Loft last week. While I loved a ton, only a few things were able to come home with me. One of them being these (super) high waist jeans. I looooove them! I love them so much that I have worn them three times since I got them last Wednesday. Three times. In a row.

I've pretty much been wearing them the same way-more on the casual side, but I plan to dress them up a bit for you later in the week, just so you can see how versatile and amazing they really are! A cute pair of heels would look great with the cropped length of the jeans.

I realize these probably aren't the most flattering jeans I have ever worn, but I love how comfortable they are, and I just love how I feel in them!

Fun at the Fair

I love this time of year, not only because of the weather (fall is pretty much my favorite season- and it totally was before it became all trendy with the pumpkin spice lattes!) but because of the York Fair! Side note- it is the oldest fair in America! Pretty cool, huh?

Anyway, it's always fun to take the girls and spend a ridiculous amount of money on games (who doesn't want a $25 stuffed animal?), and great food! It is typically on the warmer side every year for the fair, and of course it's something that you don't want to/need to get too overdressed for so I always opt for something a little bit on the comfy side.

I started carrying this great line of denim at my store called Sneak Peek. Loooooove them! I currently only have them in store, but am hoping to get them online soon. These came in last week and I immediately tried them on and snagged a pair for myself. They aren't fully lined with the plaid, which is also nice! (if you'd like to order them, just email me and you can be invoiced via PayPal, since I don't have them listed online yet!)

Loving at LOFT Lately

I haven't been shopping in a while, so I was kind of excited when my friend was having a party at our local Loft. I was eager to check out all of their new fall pieces and maybe snag a few for myself.

While I had a great time trying a lot on, I only went home with a few!

While I loved the idea of the cape, I ended up not liking it on me. It is one size which I think is part of the problem! It was so huge on me! Needless to say, it did not come home with me.

Cape (in store)

Another cute cape. Definitely one that will keep you warm! While I loved it, it wasn't my top choice so it didn't come home with me, either!

Cape /// Belt

This cape definitely came home with me! Loooved it so much. I belted it just to give it a little more definition but it looks cute without the belt, too! (see below)

I saw somewhere a denim trench coat- swore it was at Loft, but definitely wasn't! This was the next best thing- I just unbuttoned and unbelted the dress! Didn't turn out quite as well as I would have liked but still kinda cute!

Dress (in store)

Super cute dress, not flattering on me, but would look adorable with heels or booties!

Tunic Tee /// Jeans (same as above)

This tunic is aaaahmazing! Super soft, comfy, and long enough in the back that it covers my butt! I'm a sucker for tunics that are long enough to do that. This will look great with skinny jeans and booties or leggings and cute flats.

These jeans (the same ones I am wearing above)....these jeans are amazing! Although I didn't get them, they are on my list to go back and get. They are high enough to keep it all in (as you can see from the picture of my insanely tight stomach). And it makes my butt look pretty darn good too. Definitely recommend!

Jeans /// Top (in store but cute option

These jeans totally came home with me. High waisted, stretchy, soooo comfy. I can't recommend these enough! The length is just right and it feels so good to wear something so high waisted!

Singin' in the Rain

Happy Wednesday! I was MIA on Monday, like 100%. I even took a nap during the day, like in my bed, which I usually don't do! (jk I nap just usually on the couch). I was in NYC on Sunday for a few fashion week events with RewardStyle, Mode Media, and was able to get my hair and makeup done courtesy of Tresemme and Caravan Stylist Studio. It was a whirlwind day which left me exhausted and not home until after midnight, hence no post on Monday!

Anyway, I may be weird, but I really do enjoy rain. Several days of it can be a bit rough, but for some reason I love it. I always have! With that said though, particularly in the warmer months, I despise wearing sandals when it's raining. I don't like the wet feet feeling. Ugh!

This past Saturday was a rainy one. All.day.long. I figured it would be a good time to break in my new loafers from Target. I had been kind of looking for a pair, kind of not. When I saw this I loved them, because they are a little more 'pointier toed' than most loafers, which I like. For some odd reason, when I feel like my feet look short and stubby, it makes me feel short and stubby. Odd? Maybe.

And also because I love the sequence of doing this little jig...
