Keepin it Casual

That seems to be all I do lately, is keep it casual. I am totally ok with that. That's just my life- casual fits my life, and fits my style, and that's ok! You can easily maintain your style while still being casual (and comfortable).

I love this top. It was super hard for me to not buy it in multiple colors when Loft was having their sale a few weeks ago, but I settled on the striped, because I have so many black tops! Although this top is currently 50% off right now for Cyber Monday, so the black is calling my name!

Although this top has a looser fit, I think it is still super flattering. The slits on the side, and the drop shoulders give it a nice, draped look. Plus, it's super soft which makes it comfortable enough to wear all day from work, to drinks, to playing Legos on the floor!

Charlotte's Big Girl Room with Minted

I can't even believe that Charlotte is at the age where she falls into the "big girl room" category. Where did the time even go? It's so cliche but so true when people say the days are long but the years are short. Just like that she is wearing big girl undies and growing out of her toddler bed!

We are lucky enough that Ryan's Dad is super talented and can make just about anything we ask him to, so when it was time to start thinking about Charlotte's big girl room, we immediately asked PaPa (Ryan's Dad) if he could make the bed that we chose for Charlotte (and that Charlotte ok'd).

While we were waiting for that to be made, I figured I would start with the rest of the room. I knew at some point I wanted to replace the decals that we had on the wall. They were there since we built the home in 2005. It was first Ella's room, then became Charlotte's when she was born. (the toddler bed also doubles as a crib). The decals, while cute at the time, have worn out their welcome. They were also a you-know-what to remove. I do not recommend leaving decals like this on your wall for five years! Ugh! Let's just say I was glad we still had the can of Princess Pink paint in the basement for touch ups!

While I am far from an interior decorator, I knew I wanted adorable prints for the walls that were a fit for the overall look and feel I was going for. Minted has an amazing selection of prints, a lot of them being customizable. I had such a hard time choosing, because there were a ton that I adored, but ultimately, I was able to narrow down what I wanted based on the color scheme I was aiming for. I love that the Minted community is created from independent artists and designers. I know Charlotte's prints are made especially for her!

Each print is packaged individually, and they also include a little thank you note/about me postcard on each artist. For my boutique, I send out little handwritten thank you's for online orders, so seeing something like this included in my order is important to me and makes a huge impression.

From their selection of children's prints (and all other prints as well), you can choose to have them framed or unframed. Hindsight, I wish I would have chosen to have them framed because it would have saved me some time! It costs a little bit more to have them framed, but it's totally worth it!

The Anemone Monogram was my first pick, and my favorite print! We are currently getting a frame made for it (which explains the ridiculous frame we have for it now) which will make it look even more perfect! (again, order them framed...makes life much easier!)

I love how this wall turned out! I may even add one or two more prints to the wall. (I have my eye on this one and this one) Like I said, I tried to pick prints that would all complement each other. Little Clover was just adorable, and I loved being able to personalize it. Modern Fruit No. 2 was another favorite of mine, and I loved that I could once again add Charlotte's name and get it in pink! The Love You So Much print rounded out the wall, and is simple, but so true!

Now that the walls are done we just have to wait for her bed to be done and swap out the changing table and dresser for new furniture and we will be done! I love doing something like this in phases...it feels less overwhelming!

Minted is also having some great deals over the Thanksgiving holiday. Their Black Friday deal (from 11/25-11/27) they are offering 15% off $100+ and 20% off $150+ of all holiday/art gifts. For Cyber Monday (11/30) they are offering 25% off all non holiday products!

In addition to their great selection of prints they also have an awesome selection of holiday cards

Thank you to Minted for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Dress on Repeat

Every once in a while I come across something that I love, and I buy it in more than one color, because why not have multiple of something you love, right? I know I am not alone in this one-it must be a girl thing!

I wore the black version of this dress last week (see it here), and had already planned on wearing the burgundy dress this weekend. It would make the perfect Thanksgiving Day outfit. Loose, giving (for those extra calories) and stylish, of course!

Another alternative to how I have it styled is a long, oversized cardigan, floppy hat and over the knee boots. Adorable, and the epitome of fall style.

Gift Guide Friday: Gifts Under $50

I know, it seems a little early (at least to me) to be starting gift guides. In blogland, I am behind the times, but I just can't any sooner than now. And honestly, I don't really get into Christmas mode until Thanksgiving is all said and done. Once that is over and Black Friday rolls around, then I can start thinking about Christmas.

But, you give the people what they want, right? And if what they want is a gift guide then that is what they shall get!

If all goes according to plan, I will have a gift guide for: him, her, and then maybe ones for your Secret Santa, Pollyanna type gift exchanges. You know, the ones where you only need to spend like $10 but you just don't know what to get? I will give it my best shot!

So first up today is the Gift Guide Under $50! This was a labor of love/hate (moreso hate...I can't stand all of the coding/html stuff!)! Enjoy!

Minimergency Kit by Pinch Provisions: I think I have this in one of my gift guides every year. But really, you can't go wrong with it. I bought one for Ella's teacher last year (they make a special teacher's one), I have one. They are great! Filled with anything and everything you might need in an emergency- a needle and thread, breath spray, a bandaid, deodorant, the list goes on. There are a ton of colors to choose from, and they also make special ones for brides, bridesmaids, college students and there's even one for him! They make one especially for little girls- I got one for Ella's stocking last year!

BaubleBar Initial Bar Pendant: Not only is this the perfect, personalized necklace, but it is great for layering, too! Layering delicate necklaces what seems to be popular, so a simple necklace like this is keeping you on trend without being 'trendy' if that makes sense? Trend aside, it is something that can be worn for years to come!

BaubleBar Ear It Is Gift Set: I would be one happy camper if I got this as a gift! It comes with three sets of earrings- two ear crawlers and one set of jackets. They can be mixed and matched so you are getting a ton of new earrings for such a low price! It's prepackaged in a custom BaubleBar gift box so it is ready to be gifted!

LED Letter Light: Love this idea! This would be a perfect gift if you are heading to someone's holiday party and you want to bring a gift (instead of a bottle of wine)! Obviously easy to personalize and a great addition to anyone's home (or office) decor!

Dogeared Will Work for Shoes Lil' Zip: I have this, and love it! It is super roomy and is perfect to store any little incidentals when you are traveling, or if you are just on the go a lot. They have other cute sayings like 'chocolate understands' and 'stay golden.' As if they couldn't get any cuter, they are Made in the USA products!

Stella and Dot Aurora Ring Set: This super cute ring set is adjustable, so no worries about ring sizes or anything. They can be worn together or separately, based on your own personal style! Love them!

Ban.do Passport Holder: I am not much of a jetsetter, but I want this! Who wouldn't want something cute to put their passport in for safe keeping? Giving this could also be a fun way to surprise that special someone with a trip (one can dream, right?)

H&M Small Porcelain Plate: Just like the LED letter, this would be a great little gift to give a hostess. Show up to a party with cookies on this plate, but make sure to let them know the plate is theirs to keep! When the holiday parties finally come to a stop, this would be cute to display on a dresser or night stand to hold things like jewelry or even keys.

H&M Wool Blend Hat: Who wouldn't love a hat like this? Cute, stylish, simple, but a necessity! It's only $12.99, so you really can't go wrong!

Blair Ritchey Tassel Keyring: I will take one in every color, please! I have several, but I still want more! These are handmade in the USA (yes, each tassel is handcut) so you know a lot of care went into each one. They obviously make your keys look stylish, and make them easier to find (at least for me)! You can also get a tassel (without the keyring) to snap on to your bags...it gives it just a little something extra!

Kate Spade Le Pavillion Apron: I have a thing about aprons. I don't wear them, but I want to. And I want one in every color, pattern, style, print, all of the above. What I love about this apron besides the polka dots is the fact that if you flip up the bottom of the apron (while you are wearing it), it has a measuring guide. How awesome is that!

Stella and Dot Deja Vu Double Sided Gold Studs: Can't go wrong with earrings. They are basically a one size fits all, so you don't have to worry about sizing! And something like these earrings doesn't really go out of style so they can be worn for the long haul! They are double sided which means they can be worn two ways!

Target Snakeskin Wallet in Mint: I have a thing for wallets. If I could, I would change them as often as I change my jewelry or my outfits! But, I usually never buy myself a new wallet, because I would rather spend the money on something like a new purse, or a shirt-something people will see all the time! So for me, a wallet would be a great gift-something I want but never buy for myself! The price is right, and there are a lot of credit card compartments, too!

Old Navy Fringe Crossbody Bag: Love this! Super cute for a woman of any age. Big enough for essentials, small enough to not get in the way!

Renewed Hope in a Jar Hydrating Mist: This mist refreshes, re-energizes and rehydrates your skin. I am new to the whole "misting your face" thing, but my cousin Bets swears by it and loves it! I can imagine misting yourself in the face would give you a nice little pick me up during the day!

Charming Charlie Buffalo Check Watch: Isn't this just the most darling watch ever? Cute, but still classic enough to wear every day. And just like earrings, you don't have to worry about sizing so this makes an easy gift (unless they have like freakishly small or large wrists?!). It comes in blue, too!

Crescendo Whiskey Tumbler (set of 4): This would also be a great gift for a host/hostess. Show up with these and a bottle of good liquor and you will be set! A gift like this is something that will be able to be used time and again, so you know it will be a well received gift!

Any questions at all, just let me know! If there is anything you'd like to see, gift guide related just let me know!

The Coziest of Sweaters

Cozy and fall go together like peanutbutter and jelly, do they not? When Loft was having their Friendsgiving sale last week, I decided to take advantage and added the coziest of fall sweaters to my closet!

There is something about a slouchy sweater that I find flattering.(don't get me wrong, if not styled correctly it can just look like a slouchy, oversized, sloppy sweater). Add an accessory like a floppy hat or even a blanket scarf and you have the epitome of fall style! I would even say steal your husband's or your boyfriend's sweater to style-you'll certainly get that oversized sweater look for sure.

This particular sweater from Loft is what fall is about, you guys! The fact that it has a front pocket makes it that much better. I grabbed a medium, but I feel as  though I could have sized up for an even looser look/feel. If you would rather it be more fitted and less slouchy sizing down is of course an option as well. Grab yourself one while they are 30% off-there are multiple colors, too!

*** The nifty little thing on the back of my phone is an iRing. It makes life so much easier. If you don't have one, you are missing out!

The Versatile Sleeveless Cardigan

Versatile pieces are always a good thing to add to your closet. For obvious reasons, you get more 'bang for your buck' and it's just fun to come up with different ways to wear something! Something like a sleeveless cardigan can definitely be worn multiple ways, and is a great transitional pieces this time of year.

While its more of a sweater, the fact that it doesn't have sleeves makes it great for the kind of cooler, kind of not fall days. Let me tell you though, it does a great job of keeping you warm!

I have only worn this sweater with jeans/pants (on the blog, also here and here) mainly, so I knew I wanted to wear it a little differently. The wind finally died down (it was terrible! Super windy days do not make for good photo shoot days!) and the temps were mild enough that I figured I would take this incredibly comfy Old Navy dress for a spin with my fave Loft cardigan. I am telling you guys, you need this dress. It is SO comfortable, is flattering on all shapes, comes in more than one color and to top it off, its totally affordable!

40% Off Loft Sale

There is nothing I love more than when Loft has a 40% off sale! I feel like my wallet expands when they announce their sales. I am sure my husband would disagree 100% with that feeling, but I beg to differ!

Very rarely do I not find something when I am shopping there, and this time around was no exception. I have been drawn to looser, baggier clothing lately. I know I have said it before, but it still rings true. I attribute it to the trends, the time of year, and the fact that I just want to be comfortable more often than not lately. What can I say?!

Before Ella's piano lesson last night I made a pit stop at Loft to check out their sale and their current arrivals. Plus I am so in love with my high waist jeans that I wanted to add a darker wash to my closet!

I LOVED this jacket. Like super loved it. But unfortunately, I didn't bring it home with me. It was tough to leave it, but I knew I should spend money on just one item. On the other hand, I don't have a super nice winter coat! But I was good! I will definitely keep my eyes on it though! Oh and size down. This is a small on me. I typically wear a large on top!

I wanted to love this sweater, but it just wasn't flattering on me. I love the idea of it, and I think it will look soooo good on someone else, just not me! The smoked salmon color is really pretty and perfect for fall. This 'coatigan' as it's called is perfect for fall layering!

I know, the top I am wearing isn't striped- but I ended up buying the striped version of this top. I just loved the way it laid on my and it just felt super comfy (which is my theme lately). I wanted the both the striped and black, but I knew I only should get one, so striped it was!

This sweater is amazing! Loooove it. Love it's color, cut, style and comfort! Knew this was going home with me the second I put it on! This would look great with a pair of flare jeans (or even skinny), an oversized scarf and floppy hat! It comes in other colors, too!

This was super cute, loved it, but just not enough to purchase it! I think the draped cut is particularly flattering on all body types, and its one that you can dress up or dress down. Toss it on over a dress for work, or wear it over a loose fitting tee and ankle booties for weekend errands.

Loved this cardigan. Wish I would have sized up when I was trying it on just to make it a little longer and looser fitting. The neutral colors make it an easy and versatile piece to add to your closet! Again, another purchase that could be dressed up or down!

Loved this combo together! Thought it was so fun! These two can obviously be worn separately but look adorable together! Both comfy-I did love them, but not enough to bring home with me! Totally recommend though!

And because I loved my outfit, I had to document! I'm tell you, Loft's High Waist Skinny Jeans are amazing.
