Hollywood to Housewife: Denim Shorts and Cellulite

As much as I love dressing up, trying out different styles, mixing and matching, sometimes it feels good to just strip down (not literally) to the bare minimum and sport jeans and a tee.

I love seeing celebs dressed for the red carpet, but even more I enjoy seeing them dressed down for their everyday life (as everyday as it can be!) in jeans and a tee, even more specifically, jean shorts and a plain white tee.

I am typically not a shorts person. Dresses to the knee, yes, even skirts (sometimes), but shorts? Never. I have terrible cellulite not only on the back, but also the front of my legs, and I feel like shorts have always emphasized it. I have always thought that my legs, particularly my thighs are just not meant for shorts.

But last summer, and this summer, the heat is just too.much. I decided I just didn't care about how much cellulite I have, or how it looks in shorts! Honestly, it's just too hot to care. Too hot to care

Now once I got past my insecurities, or at least ignored them enough, the problem was finding shorts that were long enough so my cheeks don't hang out, but not too long that I might as well be wearing pants (bermuda shorts-can't stand them).

Believe it or not for this 34 year Mommy of two, I found really great shorts at American Eagle. I knew I wanted distressed shorts- I feel like non distressed denim shorts really make me look like a Mom. (I know I am a mom, its just my weird mind haha).

American Eagle had the perfect distressed shorts at the right length for me. I ended up with the Tomgirl Midi Shorts and just their basic Midi Shorts. I sized up in both of them because I prefer a looser fit when I am wearing denim shorts!

Outfit Details:
Top: Old Navy /// Shorts: American Eagle Tomgirl Midi, AEO Denim X Midi Short /// Shoes: Adidas ///  Bag: Blair Ritchey /// Hat: Nike (similar)

Total side note, when I was editing these pictures, I would be lying if I said it didn't cross my mind to airbrush my cellulite on my legs. But then I decided I didn't care- I really don't. It's me, it's who I am, it's how I look! Trying to embrace every last dimple!

  4. Love your posts! Thanks for being real. For owning it. I recently ordered some of your swimsuit options that you recommended from Target. I decided it was time to ditch the skirt-suit and just be me. Never felt so good. Thank you!

  6. Yas girl, I agree with everyone. I would much rather see your cellulite than the strangely edited thigh gaps like those girls in the American Eagle product views. SO WEIRD!!!!! The Midi X Denim short is especially off putting from the back angle on that model.

  7. I just found your site via a friend on FB. I love your style and especially love how "real" you are about everything. I think it's so refreshing to see a actual person modeling clothes instead of some airbrushed model. Kuddos to you for keeping it real! Also, I'm ordering both pairs of shorts and will continue to follow you for other great ideas and suggestions. Thanks!
