There is something to be said about the holidays that makes me love everything that sparkles, glitters, shines. I think that is partly why I love metallics this time of the year, which is why this month’s theme is so appropriate!
Gold anything this time of year just makes me happy- gold ornaments, jewelry, accessories, decorations, tinsel, I love it! Incorporating it into my wardrobe though is the absolute best!
I have had these gold shoes for years. Like years and years. I am thinking I was in college when I got them actually. They have seen their wear for sure, but I have noticed over the years that I really only wear them around the holidays. Even though I don’t wear them year round all the time, I can’t seem to part with them. I think it’s because they are a subtle gold and not like an in-your-face gold. Make sense?
I knew exactly how I wanted to wear them- more of a casual look. I kept my accessories to a minimum. I am really weird with being too matchy matchy. Like gold heels with too much gold jewelry is just not me. (or like a leopard sweater with leopard shoes…also not for me). Others, its totally fine, but I just can’t seem to bring myself to do it! I know- weird, right?
On a total side note, I know a lot of people think that every other blogger they follow has like, the most picture perfect life. Well, let me just give you a glimpse into mine- I had every intention of having my husband snap pics of me in this outfit with a nice background. But with a five year old insisting she put up her holiday window clings NOW, a one year old crying with Hershey’s chocolate all over her face/shirt and a dog tapping on the door repeatedly to be let out, the back yard was the best and only option!! UGH! Hahahahaha! And literally two feet to my left in all of the pictures is said five year old happily sticking her window clings to the patio door, the one year old with chocolate everywhere smashing her sobbing, chocolate covered face against the door, and the dog panting and tapping on the door to be let out. Picture it, enjoy it, laugh a little 🙂
