Ok so its time to check in again with you all, and I am excited that I lost another 2.5 pounds! That means I am down 7.5 lbs so far! While I know every week isn’t going to be this successful, I am thankful that I have started out doing well. It is certainly great motivation for me!
This week was another great one, mainly because I was able to add in more snacks and also dessert! Really, you had me at dessert!
Here is how it works:
In between breakfast and lunch, and then lunch and dinner, you are to add two snacks- a PowerFuel and a SmartCarb. Obviously, to curb your hunger, keep your metabolism going, etc. I was surprised at how long the list was of things I could eat. Here is a breakdown for you:
PowerFuel: they consist of high quality proteins that contain essential amino acids and healthy fats from nuts. It takes longer for your body to digest these foods, so they help you stay satisfied. PowerFuels also provide an excellent source of protein to help boost your body.
SmartCarb: they are a specific group of carbohydrates that are nutrient-rich and measure “low” on the Glycemic Index. These carbs are digested more slowly, keeping you feeling fuller longer while promoting good health by delivering vitamins, minerals, fiber and other important nutrients.
Here are just a few (really…just a few. The list is SO long) of the items you can have for your PowerFuel and SmartCarb snacks!
You can also have three “extras” throughout the day. These are no- or low-calorie optional add-ins that you can use to spice up your meal plan or satisfy a craving. These extras are unlimited when less than 10 calories, but you should still keep items between 10 and 35 calories per serving limited to 3 servings a day. Just because they are free doesn’t mean you can consume whatever you want of them! Some of the extras include ketchup, avocado, salad dressing, sunflower seeds, peppers, mayo, diet soda and garlic! The last two are my faves!
Vegetables are also important for the diet. You should incorporate four servings of these throughout the day on this diet- I love having some carrots, broccoli and cucumbers with a little drizzle of fat free salad dressing with my lunch! It allows my lunch to be more filling, and I am getting my serving of vegetables!
I think one big misconception I had with Nutrisystem before I researched the diet was that you had to eat their food and only their food. Obviously that is not the case. I love that! I do find myself sticking with the same PowerFuels and SmartCarbs, but it is nice to know I have a variety waiting for me if I want.
I know last week I had said I would share with you some quick workout tips, but I think I am going to push that off for another week. I think I am still trying to get in my groove and find what is working and what isn’t working for me as far as workouts and whatnot. But no need to worry! I promise I will share them all with you, and even some super cute workout gear I will be adding to my closet. Call my crazy, but something about having cute, new workout clothes makes me even more motivated!
