Chic One Piece Swimsuits

If there is one thing in the fashion world that I have loved to see transform (for the better) over the years it is the one piece swimsuit. I remember when I was younger I used to think how bad it must suck to have to wear one pieces (I guess I was a shallow teenager?) because they were always so ugly, plain, frumpy. Now that I am a mommy and can certainly not get away with wearing a bikini, I am forever grateful that they are a million times more stylish than they used to be!

If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you know that I don’t spend a ton of money when I go shopping. I typically like to purchase more less expensive items rather than one super expensive item. Call me crazy, but I’d rather buy a whole new outfit for $100 than just a shirt.

When it comes to swimsuits though, I don’t mind spending a pretty penny on them. I like them to last for several summers, I like them to be durable and not fade after wearing and washing a couple of times, and I like them to just hold up in general.

I like to think of a swimsuit as an investment piece, simply because it is something that is going to be with my for the long haul, like a really good blazer, or a really good pair of shoes.

With that in mind, here are several one piece swimsuits that will stand the test of time as far as styles and trends go, and can be worn summer after summer.

Here are several of my favorite one piece bathing suits that are currently available. I want all of them! Every single one!! As you can see, the majority of them are not strapless. Those that are have the straps that you can add or remove. As a Mommy of two, I just can’t risk anything accidentally popping out. No one wants to be a witness of that disaster!

What I love to do is actually make a whole outfit out of my swimsuit. I usually love to purchase longer coverups (I can’t get enough of maxi’s!), and toss on a matching fedora and casual flip flops (I don’t do wedges in the sand…I don’t know how anyone can). I just feel a lot more put together!

Here are a few of my favorite cover up styles….flowy, somewhat sheer, and of course comfortable! To me they turn “just a swimsuit” into a whole look!

If you are in the same boat as me where one piece bathing suits are more your thing, then no need to worry! There are so many stylish options out there for you! If you are looking for bargain swimsuits and maybe just aren’t ready to commit to an investment swimsuit, definitely check out Old Navy (such a good selection right now. This one and this one are my faves), Target and JC Penney. They all have a lot of wallet friendly options as well!!

Oh, I love this! I have been finding so many cute one pieces out there and they feel really good on. I bought two last Summer and it is so nice not to worry about sucking it in or feeling exposed with me kids around. I am also in the same boat as you in regards to buying more for less….that's why I LOVE Target!

I tried on my first one piece the other day and couldn't do it. They don't make as cute maternity styles. People at my pool just may end up seeing my preggo belly. 🙂
