If you would have asked me a few months ago, even a few years ago that I would be here, owning my own clothing boutique I wouldn’t have believed you at all! It’s still crazy for me to wrap my head around. I don’t even think it has sunk in yet that this is my life- this is my reality.
It has been a crazy couple of months, from the time the opportunity came my way (can’t thank you enough, Natalie) in mid February, to opening day yesterday. As crazy as it has been though, it has been relatively seamless, which is awesome and scares me at the same time (there is always a major glitch with big things-I haven’t had a glitch….is it around the corner?!).
Here are a few pictures of the process, start to finish. It doesn’t even look like the same place! I can’t really take any credit for it either. My husband, father, father in law, mother in law have given up their weekends and in some cases, evenings over the last several weeks to get things done. My mom has also been a huge help, helping with my girls and whatever else has needed to be done. I am lucky, for sure.
Awful, right? Little did we know how HUGE the space was once we (and by we I mean my husband, father in law and father) did the demo!
And here are the after pictures….I am SO in love with the space. I had such a great time designing it, picking out the paint colors and putting everything in its place!
Black and white photos displayed throughout the store are by the talented Ken Bruggeman Photography
I feel sometimes like it looks so empty, but the space is just so big and open that I am able to spread my merchandise out! I love it! Just to give you a perspective of the before and after, here are some side by sides:
The yellow office rooms on the left were removed to open up the space. The amazing white walls, which my father in law did is where the yellow walls were before.
The dark wall with the window (in the left picture) was blocking the gorgeous bay window. The wall was obviously knocked down to let the light in!
I honestly couldn’t be more thrilled with how everything turned out. I can’t even put into words how excited and humbled I am to be able to actually live my dream! The support I have gotten from my husband, parents, my family, and my friends can’t be measured. It’s crazy to think how much faith people have in me, and how willing my family is to invest themselves in a dream of mine. All of the thanks in the world aren’t enough! I am sitting here like a blubbering idiot with tears in my eyes as I type this because I just can’t fathom the fact that I have the blessing of having such a supportive team behind me in both my family and my friends!
Local Yorker’s, be sure to stop by the store tonight (15 N Beaver St) for my First Friday Grand Opening from 5-9! (I will be opening at 10, but events start at 5). My ribbon cutting with the Mayor is at 4, followed by champagne, cupcakes from Just Cupcakes (lemon-blueberry, orange creamsicle to name a few), giveaways and other fun stuff! You’ll also get to see my dear friend (who I can always count on for a prayer when I need it) Tabitha’s amazing handmade collection, Violet and Burke-adorable moccasins made from up-cycled leather (leather jackets, purses, etc) as well as baby/toddler rompers made from organic cotton! Her talent is insane! She also has recently launched a wonderful blog, Raising Up Arrows– you’ve got to check it out! She speaks from the heart, and it shows.
I’ll catch up with you all Monday- I’ll share all sorts of pictures from my grand opening! Prayers it all goes well!! Thank you all, my readers for going on this journey with me, and supporting me too! All of your comments and emails have not gone unnoticed! Thank you SO much!
