With fall right around the corner I figured I would add a little spin on this weeks “Wear it Four Ways” and talk about summer to fall transition. Despite what some may think, there are pieces in your closet that can easily be worn in both the summer and the fall! It’s just a matter of switching up your accessories and layering a bit more!
I took a dress (one that own and see how I styled it here) and styled it for warmer and cooler months just to share with you it’s versatility.
Really, its as simple as adding some thick tights and booties to your dresses. I have a lot of sleeveless dresses that I love to wear when it’s chilly out. Toss on a pair of opaque tights, boots and a cardi-maybe even a scarf- and you are good to go!
There are some things (actually, four) that I would consider “transition staples” or key pieces (that are actually quite simple) that help get me through those warmer-to-cooler months! These would also be pieces that I wouldn’t mind spending a little more money on (if my wallet allows it at the time) because I know that I will be wearing them through several seasons, and are items that aren’t a particular trendy piece.
Utility Jacket: That is something I can’t live without! I have worn mine over, and over and over again! It is perfect for the cool summer nights, and of course when the temps start to drop during the day. I love tossing it on over a graphic tee and call it an outfit. (The utility vest is just as awesome for when its super hot) When its a little colder I just layer! A blouse, a cardigan and the jacket, topped with a scarf!
Booties: I love wearing booties with cut off shorts (one of my new fave things to do) or a cute dress. For the fall, just like I did above, I love wearing them with jeggings or thicker tights. Such a versatile thing to have in your closet and a good investment.
Jeggings: This is pretty self explanatory. I love to cuff them in the summer time with some sandals, and in the fall/winter, I love to wear them with boots or flats!
Scarf: If it’s lightweight, it can be worn in the summer. I wouldn’t wear my blanket scarf in the summer, but this one is certainly lightweight enough to wear on warmer days, and is a great addition to your outfit if you want to bundle on those crisp fall days!
What are your favorite transition pieces for the fall? Any you can’t live without or swear by? I’d love to hear your input!
