Black Turtleneck: 5 Ways

I love doing these little style sessions for you because it not only gives you all some inspo for your closet, but it also forces me to think outside of the box and shop my closet, as opposed to buying new things!

This fitted black turtleneck has been a closet staple for me year after year. I believe this is the third fall/winter that I have been wearing it. Year after year though, I find myself reaching for it and styling it in new ways! It’s something that I suggest adding to your closet if you don’t already own one!

I wanted to share with you a few potential ways to style it, from a dressy date night or girls night out, to work appropriate, to casual! Some of the items that I have are no longer available (like the turtleneck itself), but I found similar options for all and will share with you!

Turtleneck /// midi skirt, midi skirt /// shoes

I love the idea of pairing something fitted and classic with a midi skirt. I think an outfit like this would be perfect for a date night, girls night out, or even for work (just toss on a blazer to make it a bit more professional). I wore an outfit similar to this over the holidays and I loved it!

The skirt is currently sold out online, but I did see a few in my local Target so check yours as well! I was able to find a similar one online and another cute option, too!

Overalls, Overalls /// Shoes (similar, similar)

When I was thinking of different ways to style this turtleneck, this was honestly the first that came to mind! I have had these overalls for a couple of years now and I have to say they were worth the price and investment. While they were a little more pricey than I would typically spend on something that people may consider trendy, I will say they have held up so well (great quality), and I have worn them countless times in a variety of ways! (I know a lot of you have asked to see them styled multiple ways-promise it’s on my agenda!).

I love how the black turtleneck makes the overalls just a tad bit dressier, along with the leopard mules! If you want another layer, a moto jacket, a blazer, or even a boyfriend cardigan would look great!

Denim Jacket /// Joggers /// Shoes

If you are anything like me, you prefer to be in anything casual and comfy. These Gibson joggers have been worn over and over again (I have them in black, too), to bed, to lounge in at home, to run errands, and even (super) casual dates with Ryan! For sizing, I am in the X large. I am a 12/14 and can definitely size down to the large. I have the black in both the large and the XL and I prefer the large!

I love the look of the turtleneck tucked into the joggers-classic and casual. Super comfy but looks like you put effort into your look for the day!

Jeans /// Shoes /// Vest (similar)

The sleeveless blazer/blazer vest/whatever you want to call it has been in my closet longer than the turtleneck itself! I love the look of this, particularly because of the length. I love longer cardigans and jackets so this is something that I gravitate towards.

I feel like a lot of offices are gravitating towards a more casual dress code, so this is something that would be perfect for those of you that can get away with wearing jeans to work. I think even with the jeans (and yes, even with the slight distressing) it looks professional, If you want to dress it up even more, swap the flats for a pair of heels and your look is elevated even more! Since my vest is so old, it obviously isn’t available anymore, so I’ve found some similar options for you!

Jacket (similar) /// Pants

I feel like I couldn’t not make an all black look with this turtleneck! It is a look that truly never goes out of style and just embodies the word classic. For this look I paired the turtleneck with my favorite black dress pants from Loft. I have had these for a couple of years and they get a ton of wear (have worn them both dressed up and dressed down with sneakers). For sizing reference I am wearing the pants in a 12 and they fit really well!

Although I love the whole head to toe black, I thought adding my favorite camel coat would top off the look perfectly. In the warmer months, you could easily replace this heavier jacket with a lightweight trench coat!
