Mommy in Heels: Top 5 Drugstore Foundations

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend! We were to get a ton of snow, but at some point, the storm shifted and we got nothing. I have to say I am kind of bummed because I was looking forward to a day or two of being snowed in with Ryan and the girls! I am usually good for one massive snow storm a winter, and anything beyond that is just annoying to me-haha!

Instead of a big snow storm, we just got a lot of rain, super cold temps and really high winds-nothing fun at all! The girls have no school today, so we plan on not leaving the house and just hanging out at home in comfy clothes with little to no makeup!

And speaking of makeup (what an easy segue, right?!), I get asked frequently about any and all beauty products I use, including my foundation. I figured I would share in a little bit more detail what foundation I have been using over the last couple of years and why I love them. Bonus is they are all drugstore foundation so they are really affordable.

With the exception of some of my eyeshadows and my concealor (Tarte Shape Tape), I use a lot of drugstore makeup-foundation, blush, mascara, eyeliner, lipstick-drugstore!

Wearing L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation

L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation

I have been using this the longest out of all of them and I love it! I am actually trying out a new shade this week because in certain lighting I feel like I may be wearing the wrong shade (kind of oops, but also kind of eh about it because it looks ok in pictures?!).

What I like about it, is that it is matte. You can also get a Pro-Glow version, but honestly my face doesn’t need any more glow, so I always stick with matte, no matter the brand. It also applies really easily and blends well using my makeup sponge. I do think it lasts throughout the day, and I like that it is buildable where I need it to be.

What I don’t like about it, is that I feel like it get’s funky on my nose sometimes (maybe I touch my nose too much and that causes it to wipe away or get streaky, I don’t know). I sometimes feel like it isn’t matte enough for me, if that makes sense?

Overall though, I will say I love it, and it is what I wear the most, and have been wearing for the longest time out of all of my picks! I truly love it and recommend it!

CoverGirl TruBlend Matte Made

I used this for the first time several months ago and have used it off and on-I’ve been through two bottles of it.

What I like about it is that it’s easy to apply and for the most part blends well. I particularly like fuller coverage foundation and I feel like this gives me that kind of coverage I am looking for.

What I don’t like about it, is that throughout the day, as the makeup “wears” on, so to speak, I noticed the tiniest white dots on my face, like the size of a pin head. It’s like little tiny particles of the foundation are just sitting on my skin. If someone were just chatting with me, I don’t think it would be noticable, and it doesn’t happen all the time. I just notice it when I am like super close to the mirror. It doesn’t bother me enough to not wear it, just something that I am sometimes “ughhh” about!

I just bought a new bottle of this yesterday, so obviously I like it enough to continue using it!

L’Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation

While I liked this foundation enough to include it in this post (obvi), I have to say it is my least favorite out of all of them!

I felt like the coverage it provided was sufficient enough for me and my skin concerns, but I feel like it just sat on my skin. You know how sometimes when you’re wearing makeup you feel like you could just take your fingernails and scrape all of your makeup off? That’s how I kind of felt with this foundation.

I don’t know if I wasn’t blending it well enough, or maybe I just needed to use a good primer (something that I don’t use all the time but I know I should) but I just wasn’t overly thrilled with it. I did use all of it, though, and if I were ever in a pinch I would use it.

Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick

This is an every day use for me. I would never use it by itself-simply not enough coverage for me-but I use it underneath my foundation regardless of what I am using.

Since it’s a stick, I basically use it as additional armor on my face! I draw it over my dark circles, the brown spots on my cheeks and then over whatever blemishes I have. I love that it is lighterweight, so when combining it with my foundation I don’t feel like it’s cakey.

I definitely recommend this-easy to use, and easily blendable with other foundations.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation

This foundation is another favorite of mine. Easy to apply, easy to match to my complexion and buildable! I did feel like, even though it was matte, that it left my skin a tad oily.

I have been noticing (yay, getting older!) that my pores are starting to become more noticeable so I am always looking for makeup that will help minimize my pores. I felt like this did really did make them less noticeable, overall! As far as this being long lasting, I think it lasted. It wears well throughout the day and didn’t leave me feeling like I needed to reapply or touch up at any point during the day!

For it being a super affordable drugstore foundation, I feel like it wears really well!
