Monday Q & A

How did you grow your instagram?

Slow and steady! I wish I had a magic answer for you, but I don’t! I just remained consistent, stayed true to myself (ie: my feed could never be alllll one color scheme bc that’s just not my life) and try my hardest to engage as much as possible (but that’s still something I could be better at).

I also love to collaborate with others as well-it’s introduced me to some amazing people and has also given me a lot of growth and opportunity!

Strapless bras and regular bras recommendations?

I absolutely love Knix and Cacique Intimates. They are my go-to’s for bras and undies. I was fortunate enough to spend a day at Cacique headquarters in February and it just reaffirmed my love for them! The research they do when developing their products is phenomenal and so detailed, and it shows!

How many tattoos do you have and will you get more?

I have five tattoos-they are all pretty small line tattoos though! I don’t feel like I am cool enough to pull off anything more than that-hahaha!

I didn’t even get my first tattoo until (I think) I was 34, so they have all been within the last three years! I had planned on being done after I got my last one in January, but now that I am pregnant, I will most likely get something for baby girl. I have each of the girls’ birthday’s tattooed in Roman Numerals, so Ella pointed out to me that I need to get something for her after she is born!

Advice for first time moms?

BREATHE. And ask for help. The friend that wants to stop by to help feed the baby or clean the house so you can nap or play with your other kids? Let them. Your Mother in Law who wants to come and stay with you for a few days to help you ease into motherhood? Let her.

In the same breath, know that it’s ok to say no-those that just want to stop by to meet the baby , they mean well, and it’s a great feeling to know so many people are eager but it can get exhausting! There will be a lot of people that will want to visit for the sole purpose of snuggling the newborn and not necessarily helping (which is totally fine-I’ve been that person before!). Don’t feel bad to take some time for yourself as a family and say “no visitors, please!”

I think I remember with Charlotte thinking “if my phone rings one more time I’m going to lose it!” You feel like a jerk because people are just excited for you, but girl you just had a BABY. Nothing is right-your undercarriage, your hormones, your boobs, your new normal. Give yourself some grace

How has this pregnancy been?

A lot, a lot different than my previous two-I chatted alllll about it in my First Trimester recap that you can read here!

Celebrity crush?

I honestly don’t know-lol?! My girlfriends and I always had a thing for Zac Efron, but for some reason I always feel like a Mrs. Robinson-I know he isn’t as young as I think, but still!

I also love Jimmy Fallon-his humor is the best!

Are you going to take time off when baby arrives?

I will in January, after the holiday rush! I realize the timing of my due date is a bit much when my job is concerned-Black Friday/Small Business Saturday/Cyber Monday is hands down my busiest and most profitable weekend of the entire year at my store. It’s a stretch of days that I need to be there and my customers expect to see me there! Then, after that busy weekend is the holiday rush!

Being that my due date is just a few weeks prior to that, my down time might not be as ‘down’ as I would like it to be. Although I will have help (a part time employee and a dear friend who is always willing to cover the store when I need it), I will still be ‘working.’ Perhaps a small disadvantage to being a business owner?!

But with that said, I am thinking of maybe doing limited hours during December and then closing for the month of January. Foot traffic at my store usually comes to a screeching halt in January, and just in general it’s one of my slowest months of the year, so that timing actually works out well!

Affordable black overalls?

I do have a pair from Madewell that I love-they are definitely on the more expensive side but I love to find more affordable options for you all (and for myself, too!).

Old Navy has a really great option for black denim overalls-they are fully stocked and under $50 (with 20% off right now)

Swimsuits? (with skirt, too)

Swimsuits for All has a really great selection of swimsuits-I always seem to find a great one every year from there!

How do you inspire self awareness and confidence for your daughters?

This is something I am super proud of when it comes to parenting. I struggled with it my whole life and knew it was something I didn’t want my girls to go through so I’ve made it a point to try my hardest to raise confident daughters!

One thing I don’t do is ever talk about my weight or my size in front of them. I also don’t make negative comments about how I look in front of them. To them, I am the most confident woman there is!

I also try to not focus on just how they look. If I make a comment on their appearance I then try to comment on something non-appearance related (not necessarily right away but at some point in the day). I know I am not always doing everything right and I am not perfect, but I just want to try my hardest to not make them feel like their worth is based on how they look!

Are you still doing ww (Weight Watchers) while pregnant?

No I had to stop when I found out I was pregnant-it’s not recommended for pregnant women to do it. I honestly don’t know how I could-with how sporadic my eating and appetite have been I don’t think it would be beneficial for me!
