Everything I Packed and Wore for an Alaskan Cruise in June
We just got back from a really awesome 7 day cruise through Alaska! We had never been before, but my parents have! They wanted to take another cruise and bring us along with them this time.
Packing for this proved to be kind of hard, mainly because I didn’t know what to expect in terms of weather. The weather seemed to be generally pretty mild, but with it being June, I have seen that it can be super warm as well. With all of that in mind, I figured I would just pack easy, lightweight layers!
The overall vibe of the cruise was also really casual. Even in the evenings for dinner, I noticed a lot of people stuck to comfort and warmth over fancy.
Hopefully you find this somewhat helpful if you are headed to Alaska!
At Sea Days
I honestly could have worn my pajamas all day when we were at sea if I wanted to but there was so much to do that we were out and about a bunch!
Excursion Outfits
Like I said before, the whole vibe for the cruise was casual, which included excursions. Sweatshirts were a common theme among cruise goers along with easy layers!
This outfit was perfect for our whale watching adventure. I probably could have gone without the lightweight raincoat but I honestly didn’t feel like carrying it so I kept it on! I wasn’t hot or anything with it (there was a breeze on the boat), but the temp was perfect for either wearing or not wearing a jacket if that makes sense!
If you can’t tell, this raincoat was a great purchase and worn pretty frequently. I love that it actually combines fashion and function (although we lucked out with basically no rain the whole trip!). I wore this when we panned for gold and took a gorgeous train ride through Alaska and up into Canada!
Unlike other trips, I didn’t want to purchase many new things to wear prior to leaving, mainly because I wouldn’t be able to wear it when we got home since it’s so hot here! With that in mind I basically shopped my closet (which I should do more often if I am being honest). The striped tee looks great on it’s own but paired with this jacket it’s a complete look!
Our day in Ketchikan was pretty chilly, mainly because of the wind so that’s something to keep in mind if you visit there!
The sweatshirt I wore is part of a matching set which I love to pack because you can get more wear out of it! I also wore this (with the matching sweatpants) on our way home from London!
If you notice, I wore a lot of sneakers-none of our excursions really called for hiking shoes or even waterproof shoes. But that doesn’t mean you won’t need them. It all depends on what excursions you are doing!
Our last stop of the cruise was in Victoria, British Columbia. Oh my gosh what a charming place! I most definitely want to go back. We didn’t dock until later in the day so we just did a quick walk around as it was already 8:00 at night when we got off the ship.
In the hustle and bustle of the night I didn’t get a good pic of my outfit, but I paired another sweatshirt with my leggings and topped it off with this puffer vest I got over the winter and love SO much!
Our last excursion what actually after we disembarked! We were able to do a fun little tour of Seattle. We walked around Pike Place Market and then visited the Space Needle! From there the bus would take you to the airport but we chose to stay in the city for a bit longer as our flight wasn’t until 11:30 that night. There are so many businesses within Seattle that, in addition to their normal business, also store luggage! So we dropped all of our bags off at The Purple Store and ventured out.
I knew I was going to be wearing this outfit for pretty much 24 hours so I wanted to be comfy-no hard pants! The elastic waist was ideal and comfortable enough for the whole day and traveling home!
Dinner Outfits
I feel like if you wanted to get super dressed up for dinner you could, but it just didn’t seem like an overall dressy ship. I kept it semi casual with easy-to-pack dresses and my favorite mesh ballet flats. I didn’t want to wear sandals so they were the perfect medium for the mild climate.
Some of the nights I just wore to dinner what I had on during the day! But, I did manage to document what I did wear on the nights I made an outfit change.
These pants are part of a matching set, so I just swapped the top for this striped tee and was able to get another outfit out of it-perfect! I did end up layering it with a denim jacket which completed the whole look!
