More Collge Purchases from Parents Who are Learning As We Go
Ella graduates in about three weeks-that seems so insane to think about let alone type! Since she committed to Penn State a couple of months ago we have been in the throes of purchasing things for her dorm. It’s a process, it seems and one that is best spread out (it’s easier on the wallet, too).
Ryan and I graduated from college in 2004 so obviously there has been a lot of changes. I honestly don’t even know if I can remember what was a must and what was better left at home-it was that long ago. With that in mind, we are kind of winging it, but also using social media (and Ella) to help guide us in the direction of what to get and what to avoid.
I realize there are things we’ve purchased that she probably won’t use, and things that we will realize after the fact that she needs, but such is life! Isn’t it all essentially trial and error?
I share a bit ago what we have already purchased for her (you can read that here), but we’ve added more to it!
Obviously a mattress protector and a topper are a must. If there is one thing I do remember from my college days, it’s that the mattresses are not that comfortable. Hopefully the topper Ella picked out will do the trick for her.
She and her roommate have been planning all of the decor, which includes these adorable lamps, and of course a small, storage ottoman. We also have this Ikea drawer unit that they both have-a bit pricier than other items we’ve gotten but it will certainly be useful!
What are some items that you have found to be worthwhile or things that are a waste? Would love to hear your thoughts!
